Sasol is rocking

Sasol, one of South Africa’s most iconic companies, saw its market cap increase from R81 billion to R135 billion in three weeks.

This is mainly due to the conflict in the Middle East, which drove oil prices from around $65 per barrel to over $100 per barrel in two weeks.

If it's like this for Sasol, a small state owned oil company, then imagine how good it is for the large oil company owned states -_-

I hate to break it to you, but Sasol hasn't been state owned in many decades:
In 1979, Sasol transitioned from a state-owned entity to a public company, listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

I would not call Sasol a small company.

As of early 2026, Sasol’s total equity (net asset value) is approximately R152 billion to R157 billion. The company’s total assets are valued at around R367 billion, while net debt sits at approximately R81.8 billion.

Sasol employs approximately 27,000 to 30,000 people globally, with a significant portion based in South Africa, and operates in over 30 countries. Recent data indicates a total of around 27,100 to 28,600 employees, with the workforce supporting operations in mining, chemicals, and energy.

A small oil company. Sasol is tiny compared to them. But anyway. As some have pointed out, Sasol is not a publicly owned company anymore. So I'm going to delete the original post.
