Hi Everyone,

Just got off the phone with Axxess support and aparently the ISP's using SAT-3 ie Telkom and others would be experiencing faster speeds than SEACOM ISP's this due to Congestion etc.

How true is this?

Does anybody have a list of ISP's using SAT-3 vs SEACOM?

sat3 will always get better latency to EU etc, just because it takes a shorter route then seacom.

IS(axxess,afrihost etc reseller)= seacom
telkom saix= uses seacom and sat 3
mweb cpt= sat 3
mweb jhb and dbn= seacom
webafrica=sat3
cybersmart= sat3

great thank you hereticangel

So does that mean SAT-3 downloads would be faster;)

Not necessarily faster. In theory it could be faster but the biggest restriction is the network from the international landing stations to your house, ie. the congested local network.

They hardly use sat3 as main for home user anymore, yet to see telkom home user with 160ms to uk , or they shaping the latency on it.

sat3 latency uk about in that line, add 30-40ms if our not cpt .

not saying your wrong , but i think they use cheaper bandwidth for home users, to safe money probably.

My telkom/Sat3 account performs so much worse then my Mweb/Seacom account. I get 350ms pings on telkom to the EU and speeds never reach full potential while Mweb pings are 190 to the EU and I get full download speeds.
