Sorry, Perhaps I missed it, but why does Telkom not respond to at least some of these very relevant comments. Are we realy being taken for a ride by Telkom?

simple business common sense I would think. Nothing really surprising there. If your competitor builds a bigger warehouse what are you going to do?

Well well...so they WERE lying after all! Did we not all say that for ages?
The problem here is the consumer! We just let ourselves be continuously ripped off! Broadband...what is the definition of this term? Google it! You will find that the whole world states that Broadband means a MINIMUM of 200kb/s one way traffic! The average South African on a 4 meg line gets between 3kb/s and 40kb/s on international downspeed...ummmm did anyone think that these Internet Moguls could be sued for using the term broadband under our existing false advertising laws?
Oh I forgot to mention, there is 1 reference on Google where Broadband means a minimum of 56kb/s one way....of course that came from South Africa....but my God we can't even get that!

These should be the MINIMUM entry levels for a broadband connection like the rest of the world where the consumer is KING!!

Will this ever happen? Of course not!
Think of the JOB opportunities this could create! Here is my son and myself, both accredited FOA techs and cannot find employment! How many of the staff at Telkom and Neotel have this world wide acceptable certificate? Few I tell you! If it were LEGAL to install fibre to the home, more business would jump at the opportunity, but we are so regulated to keep the Moguls in their mansions, that the man on the street will continue to suffer!

Why doesn't anyone acknowledge or read the fact that telkom already lowered their wholesale bandwidth pricing to be equal of that of Seacom's pricing a few months ago?

Yes, Seacom will eventually end up in the T'bits range... but they will only start out around 400 gbps. They will not be able to utilise that full capacity for a while yet, there is just not enough demand on the continent yet.
Trust me... I have my sources. Christmas is coming early in 2009!

I did that over 5 years back (in personal capacity and my company too) they have done absolutely nothing to win me back. Id anything their actions have continuously made me incrementally more anti-Telkom than the day I was when I divorced them.
I don't expect anything other than monopolistic tactics from Telkom.
You remind me of a beggar on his knees, and every little scrap thrown your way is celebrated by you and seen as a victory toward your miserable little existence.

If Telkom can lie with a straight face to a 12 year old they will lie to anyone.
I am reminded some time back, I saw an article on TV on a kids program where a 12 year old was interviewing a Telkom bigwig on telecommunications. Anyway one of the questions was, why is the internet in South Africa so expensive. The answer - Because South Africa is so far away from the rest of the world.
Well if that was so, you would find countries such as Australia and New Zealand and Chile also being very expensive - which they are not.
During that interview I had a good look at that Telkom bigwig and you could see he was sweating. Then when he answered that question you could also see from a mile away he was telling a big fat lie.
If Telkom bigwigs manage to lie like that to a 12 year old and have no conscience about it, can you imagine how they manage to lie to everyone else.
