Well: "A Telkom representative revealed in late July that the cable fault had no effect on local connectivity." So i guess if your connection sucks, it's not the cable...unfortunately.

Removing 70% of Nigeria's internet connectivity (read: spam and con megatraffic) opened up and relieved some pressure on the SAT3 system. Now, since the fix, the line is choked again with those countries coming back online. Might not be what actually happened, but my original statement was logical in that light.
