It's still a cruel law, they outlawed the death sentence in most countries, so why not change the Shari Law to be fair.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but is Shariah a uniform set of laws worldwide or would for instance the Saudis with Wahhabism have their own version that differs from that implemented by Shiite Iran? Are some versions stricter than others?

Well Shari Law is derived from the Quraan and Muslims all over the world use the same Quraan so essentialy it SHOULD be the same, uniform set of laws across the board but I'm not clued up on how different countries enforce the law o) so I can't really comment on possible differing degrees of Shari Law.

Fair enough. In Islam, you'll find that these laws are embedded in the Quran so separately religion and law is near impossible.

Not really. Christians ignore a huge chunk of the rules in their book. Some of those books would contain material taken from Jewish holy books and they aren't enforcing all those rules either.
