It looks like batteries are connected to Inverter right? So LS shouldnt be an issue for you tonight?

Correct that little problem is solved.

Just no PV for tomorrow morning.

95% there but the rain has thwarted the PV getting done.

Fighting with the HA integration but will ask for some help later there.
What's the loose cable going over the inverter and DB?

Edit: while the installers are there, make sure your prepaid UI is connected directly to grid (between grid and CT)...
 
@itareanlnotani so I have the RS485 connected (as manufactured by Solar Assistant) and have a 15m ethernet cable on a double-sided extension on there so I can't see it being a physical problem unless there's a cable length limit in play.

It sees the FTDI interface but this is obviously before the extension so doesn't mean much, but from the Add-on I just get a whole lot of dead.

Do I need to turn it on from the Sunsynk maybe? I saw some option relating to it on the battery screen figured leave well enough alone.

Okay after reinstalling it seems to be happier but still not quite there.

Guess I'll need to move it closer tomorrow and skip the extension and see if it makes any difference.

Seems to have found it - as its listing the inverter serial.

I haven't played with the direct cable myself on the sunynk, as i pull straight from the older wifi adaptor using a plugin. Suggest read the docs for the plugin you're using - should be on github.

Yeah it’s one you recommended in another thread.

Seems to work some of the time after hitting rebuild a few times and restarting. Suspect the documentation isn’t quite accurate as it only accepted the Serial after removing the quotes which it said to do in the first place.

Switched to Dev build, made no difference and then saw some trickle data had come in on the sensors so will revert.

May just end up needing Solar Assistant after all which I wanted to avoid as I don’t have a plug close.

But maybe this cable is also just full of kak. Will need to test tomorrow.

You can power the Solar Assistant from the battery or inverter... they have a cable that connects to those end points

Its rs485, so 15m of serial over some ethernet cable (i.e. twisted pair for the pair you're actually using on that cable) isn't going to matter.

rs485 can do hundreds of meters.

Oh I see they have a dedicated power supply to do the job. I already have a Pi so wouldn’t buy the hardware from them, but could probably organise the power supply separately if need be.

Oh it’s on kWh not kW so not really a live feed of energy usage like one would expect.

I was comparing it to the app.
 
The energy card is delayed and I think it groups per hour so the sunsynk app will always show better real time info

Yeah I realised now it’s more historical usage than real time consumption.

But can probably pull those values out with some templates by the looks of things.

There will be much nerding tomorrow.
 
Turns out once you feed stuff into Home Assistant the SunSynk WiFI logger isn't very real time at all.

(Seems you need to force refresh it, then it does get an updated figure).

I can turn my geyser on and it takes multiple minutes to pick up the difference.

But happily running the aircon, geyser and normal stuff off the battery only now at 5kW and nothing is even blinking.
 
Ok. So it's the SSEG cert.

Just had someone mention to me the other day that the CoC is not enough for insurance purposes and was wondering what else is needed.
My insurance premium, if I remember correctly, increased with about 2 rands and a few cents. They also never asked for any CoC nor SSEG (then again I am in JHB). But I am sure that they will ask for it in event of a claim.

Yeah it was hardly worth the back and forth email with my broker.

And I reckon if it’s SSEG registered you’ll never have any trouble.

Correct they will.

I asked them as well if I need a CoC, the agent said will ask for it in the event of a claim. Which is kinda sneaky because if something doesnt look correct on the CoC they could deny your claim
