He doesn't need it. I was wondering what he was talking about at the time, when he was talking about wanting an extra plug. I was rather confuzzled tbh, until just now when @RonSwanson talked about split meter/keypads over PLC, and it twigged.

Council replaced his trippy meter with a newer conlog (BEC23), and that seems to be pretty stable - no trips since that was replaced a few weeks back.

I still need to get down there again and help him out with aux setup at some point.

Yep correct I had an old Landis Gyr meter (both old and new have integrated keypad in the meter, not seperately) - and it started giving me **** +-3 weeks after my solar install. My meter is powered directly off the feed coming in to the house (it doesn't have it's own plug like the GP guys seem to).

3 weeks after install we had a neighbourhood surge --> after that my meter kept going in to anti tamper mode (on a Thus, Sat, Sun) and the council reset it each time. After the third trip they replaced it with the Conlog and I've not had an issue since. (for ref it was set to 20w via the trickle feed).

With the Conlog I set 100w --> 50w --> 25w to try and see if it would trip at any point. It hasn't so far, so next week I'll try 20w and then 0w if I'm lucky. (been about 3-4 weeks or so now).
 
Nah, I think maybe that's the CT coil.
The earth neutral bonding relay basically bridges earth and neutral when loadshedding hits. Basically in a normal home AC circuit, earth is bonded to neutral on the Eskom side outside your home... When loadshedding hits, neutral and live are off and your home supply is effectively not earthed for the period that you're offline - called 'island mode'. The earth neutral bonding relay bonds earth to neutral when there's an Eskom outage so your earth still functions... Without it there's a small risk of electrocution if you have faulty equipment as earth leakage won't function.
Check with your installer if he installed it. Without it, it's not up to code AFAIK.

My entire house is on the inverter and so the new “mains” lives there as well as bypass etc.

The earth leakage was tested both with the grid off and on while I was there so I’m pretty confident it’s all fine and installed as it should be, I’m just not enough of an electrician to tell you exactly where it’s happening.

It doesn't hurt to ask, especially with your children around. It should also be documented on a diagram, I insisted on my sparky doing a diagram of how things are connected up for troubleshooting later.

I used the same installer and got the diagram as part of my SSEG submission.

For ref the CoCT actually came out to check my install was compliant - my installer mentioned that I was the first customer he'd actually had checked.
 
Dedicated prepaid meter plug

I'm confused.

My prepaid meter is a two part unit - the first component is a 'plug and play' replacement for the old meter and is locked in a council box outside.

The second component is a remote box that is used to monitor usage (the outside component also displays usage) and enter the reload code. The 2nd component (per the installer) communicates wirelessly with the first and has a backup battery that enables you to enter your reload code even if you've run out of electricity completely.

So I'm not sure what one would connect to that dedicated plug.

Definitely irrelevant to us.
