i agree, but this only happens cause there is no more discipline, i believe that they need a good hiding too...
Sounds like the Principal is a real twat. I will never condone throwing school property in to the pool of Spray painting the walls. But lets be honest we all had our fun in school. I blew up a Dustbin with a Firecracker once![]()
The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.
The principal doesn't sound like an ass to me - he has a responsibility to the board to maintain the integrity of the school, and by condoning their behaviour with little/no action, he is in fact harming the integrity and setting a precedent for the non-matriculants and future pupils.
Night of mayhem at top boys' school

Diocesan College (Bishops) has cancelled its valedictory service for Friday and all other matric farewell functions after a spate of vandalism to school property by a group of matriculants.
The acts of vandalism, which led to police being called in, were part of a traditional end-of-year matric celebration known among pupils as "Operation Mayhem".
In a letter to parents on Thursday, principal Grant Nupen said a group of matriculants had caused extensive damage to school property on Wednesday, using spray paint and printing "hurtful graffiti". A copy of the letter was sent to the Cape Argus anonymously.
Pupils also damaged locked doors, threw school property into the swimming pools and damaged lawns and plants.
Most worrying, said Nupen, was the extensive use of fireworks which caused "serious disturbance" to neighbours, resulting in angry responses, police involvement and "serious harm to the reputation of the school".
"There was further inconvenience and disruption to the usual teaching of the school today (Friday)," said the letter. "These activities have been in serious conflict with the values which Bishops espouses.
"We want boys to respect the values and traditions with pride, but I am sad to report the opposite seems to have been the case in these incidents, even though this is not true of the whole year group, but just a large part of it.
"We cannot condone disrespect for school property, disrespect for the feelings of people who were attacked in the graffiti, disrespect for the neighbours and surrounding community, disrespect for the staff who now have to clean up and repair all the damage, and the disrespect for those of their fellow matrics who were not involved.
"Equally disappointing was the lack of control by the parents of those boys who were involved between 10pm and 3am, many of whom appeared to have been drinking (and some of them driving). When staff tried to intervene to attempt to identify the perpetrators, large numbers of them ran away, and attempts by staff to control the situation were simply disregarded."
In the letter Nupen said he had investigated and discussed these matters with housemasters, the school executive, the head and deputy head of school, the Chaplain, the secretary of the OD Union, as well as the Chairman of Council.
"We have all agreed that such conduct cannot be condoned nor do we want this behaviour to be perpetuated.
"As I have previously warned both the matrics and their parents of the possible consequences of such behaviour, the valedictory service planned is cancelled, as are other matric farewell functions which were still to have happened this week.
"I understand that this will disappoint many and indeed it is unfortunate for those boys whose conduct has been above reproach during the year, and especially at this time."
Rondebosch police spokesperson Inspector Lyndon Sisam said when the sector commander went to the school to investigate, he discovered that some teenagers had been lighting fireworks. "They were addressed by the sector commander who told them not to do it again and then let them go on a warning," he said. Sisam said they would be monitoring the area on Friday night.
Nupen's secretary said the school would issue a statement on the matter later on Friday.
That's Socrates, probably around 400 BC.
So much for snot schools!
