I agree with Drifter, I bought many highly modified cars and one was actually my daily drive which gave me four years of driving pleasure with no issues.

I agree my 2001 s3 is mint for the most part and has 3 or 4 small mods. Only driven it hard 3 or 4 times just to see what it can do, nothing stupid like burn outs or hand brake turns just fast pull offs and quick acceleration. If done properly modded cars can be reliable and non damaging to the engine

In the market for a "hot hatch" and found a decent deal on a 2012 Scirocco R with 27 000km on the clock

Maybe you should ask yourself why the owner spent so much money doing the modifications on such a new car only to sell it,(at a loss obviously)

I say run away, and yes that story about the warranty is all lies, you will only see it for what it is when you have a claim.
