Scirroco is Here!!! :D

Again, totally different markets. Who would want a base model C180 anyway?

People with style, class, money, and probably a house in a nice neighbourhood.

AND milfs.... I forgot the milfs.... very important that.

Hahahahahaha
More like people aspiring to have style, class, money... C180 is a badge, a Merc made for upperclass taxis and wanabes, if a BM or Merc doesnt have 6 or more cylinders its not worth it!!!

I understand where you are coming from. Much like I would go "If it has a VW badge its not worth it".

Oh - and 4cyl Mercedes engines is where BlueMotoring was born. Without it VW would not have a green (of be it blue) motion initiative.

Knowing VWSA they'll probably create a 4 door model for this country.

To all the Type-R haters here: Remeber, the NATURALLY ASPIRATED 2.0l engine of the Type-R, combined with its incredible driving characteristics, might not make it the best straight-line performer. But put it on a twisty track and you'll scarcely be able to keep up in similarly classed cars...

Throttle response on it should also be slightly better since the power output isn't as variable as with a turbocharged car. I don't know how effectively the supercharger would counter that disconnected feeling. Up on the highveld you lose quite a lot of power that forced induction cars won't lose, which is a pity.

But look at the bright side, if you go down to the coast you suddenly have 20% more power :)

Perhaps the Honda petrol engine is a 'blank canvas'? You can add forced induction if you so please...

You and Honda engineers are the only people who think so....

Not really, CAR magazine agrees.

Nope
The test done at Kyalami showed the PGTi was faster in a straight line and slightly slower than the Type R around the track, The Pgti hast the worst suspension and road holding on a standard car compared to all the other cars so its something Honda should be ashamed of!

And Corsa OPC pisses on both of them :p

But in all honesty, non boosted engines are better in the long run and Honda does know how to make those. While I was very impressed with the VW TSI I am not a fan of blown enigens. Even low pressure ones like the Mercedes Kompressors.

Oh really?? And why is that?

The Corsa OPC is just better, nicer looking, and not as boring as any VW. Plus it has more power but that is irrelevant cause it looks soooo good.

Anyone can fit a turbo and blower to an engine, that is not a skill, but making a naturally aspirated engine that performs well is a skill. One that Honda has.

Im not a fan of the looks to be honest, I like the power it produces and its really cool to drive, but with very dark tinted windows!!:p

Turbos are a cheaper way to make power I agree, but it works so well...
Honda and Toyota still cant get it right baring the S2000. Audi has it right with the RS4, BM has it right with the M3's old and new...

How do you mean they 'got it right'? They didn't force induction on the S2000. Toyota's last supercharged corolla was somewhere in the mid 90's from what I can recall, and wasn't available in SA.

The Mugen version of the TypeR was compared to the S2000 on an episode of Fifth gear, and it game out about a second faster on a track test.

As for the Kyalami Polo GTI being only slightly slower than the TypeR: The Polo already has about 10% more torque than the TypeR, doing it at 1800m gives it at least another 10% extra advantage. 20% more Torque should bloody well get you quite a few seconds.

I think you misunderstood or I think I just typed it wrong.
As for NA cars Honda has it right with the S2000 and the old Type R, Toyota has nothing NA thats good, their VVTI RunX RSi sucked, very high power output figures but nothing on the wheels.
I meant Audi got it right with the NA RS4.

NA cars are good if you in coastal areas, I admit that I like the response you get from the engine when you play with the accelerator pedal compared to turbo cars...

My problem with NA cars is that in JHB they useless and they cost 5 times more to modify compared to turbo cars...

The Kyalami story just proves how bad the Honda is in altitude conditions. Why waste all that money on it? Unless you really like the look, dont buy it.

That response is generally what makes it worth it for me. I can't afford driving excessive speeds on the public roads, so I'd rather have a responsive car than an overpowered car which isn't quite as fun to drive.

Another very important thing to ask yourself when you buy a performance car, or any car for that matter (except a stationwagon) is does it look like a stationwagon ?

As you can see here the Opel Corsa OPC = FAIL and I am sure the Honda Civic Type-R will also be a big fail in this category :

How can a Polo look like a station wagon? Are you ok??
