But that it the thing, the recipient is not the true owner in the eyes of the courier. SSS arranged the courier and the contract is between those parties. SSS owes money, so unless you as the 'true owner' arranged the courier, you are most probably out of luck from what I can recall from the wordings used in these types of default contracts/terms at play. Dont quote me though.

The courier will return the items to the sender in this case, and probably hold SSS liable for the return as well. Unless their terms with SSS allows them to auction the items to recover their fees. It will depend on the actual terms in the end.
 
I put in an order and paid end of June. A month later I asked for an update and was told seller is unresponsive. Then a few days later sudden liquidation and told goods can't be released by the couriers. I asked for some proof and SSS sends me a cart screenshot.

Some okes will still be convinced he's a "nice guy". Even when presented with plenty of evidence to the contrary. They fall into the naive category.

Very good. OCF ratio is well over 1.0 and it's been that way since Covid so just green lights. Thanks for asking.

I was responding to you and that other bozo who were saying that operating with negative cashflow is just part of the rigours of running a business. It isn't. It's a bozo move, just read the thread my guy. You can't see this business flame out and then go "well that's just how it goes you know..." That's how it goes when you fsck up royally, sure. The point is people try to not do that.

Yes, also when his 30 day forecasts started turning red was when he should have acted. Had he done that then his reputation would be untarnished and his customers would not be out of pocket.

I get the overwhelming sense that there are people here who are hearing terms like "operational cash flow", "working capital" and "30 day forecast" for the first time.

Are you the second person now to report that they were sent a screenshot of a shopping cart and not the confirmed order? That's wild if true. Dude just went from "voluntary liquidation" to fraud in the time it takes to post a screenie WTF?
 
At least can't they give those who ordered the option to pay the couriers/tax on the items , yes its an additional cost and not fair, but at least you get your items. Not ideal solution but better than not getting anything?

This whole thing is really poorly managed.

EXACTLY THIS. Not great that the money I paid that should have gone to the couriers and tax didn't and is gone. But flip, let me pay because it is MORE than they will get at an auction and I they are happy and I am happy.

In a much stronger economy than the South African, namely the USA. The average SME can only cover costs for 27 days. That is less than a full month. So yes its a lot more prevalent than you propose. Any small thing and especially if you get screwed by warehousing or whatever your business relies on and your under.

Yep yep, I started the heads-up thread on the 6th of July when it became apparent that things were not operating as usual. So if I as an external party could see that, why was he still taking orders like @Snotface's after that date right up until he was "liquidated".
That fraud/theft and it's not acceptable. My suggestion is that all people directly affected start a group and work together to take legal action. I know for many it's not so much about the money lost and more about being ****ed over.
Yes, businesses fail, everyone gets that but this looks like a cash grab and Scott has done nothing to prove otherwise.

Not trolling, all my experiences with SSS were positive.

That said to assume he was committing fraud purposefully with no evidence is a stretch. As I pointed out if he truly wanted to grab and run the most financially opportune time would have been when he took a crap ton of battery orders. But alas, they received their batteries not.
 
My previous experience with him was also positive. Which is why I was happy to do an import for a larger value.

Surely clearing his “good” name would be easy to do. Provide any evidence of the liquidation. ANY. the name of the liquidator. Correspondence confirming the liquidation. Correspondence from the couriers saying that items are waiting for clearance.

Why has he not done this. Not here. Not in email. Nobody has a shred of evidence to back up his claims. And the burden of proof at the moment is on him.
