The excise duties above are touted as a "luxury goods tax" and I can see the reasoning behind most of it. The main tariff sheets I've got no idea why some things are being taxed, I mean why a kids tricycle has a 20% duty on them I will never know.

Pretty sure that's the local manufacture thing, like the textiles.

BTW, how would it work with vehicle rims from the UK ?

Am interested in importing a set of 5 rims from a UK company. They are not available in SA.

18" 4x4 steel rims.

Seems like everytime I want something from overseas I'm asking for an item with high import duties :p However, your quoting times are always exceptional

Still upset that helmets don't fall under safety gear :mad:

Sorry about that! All safety headgear except firemans helmets carry a 25% duty, no idea why....

Not Nedbank ? - Either way, just double check the per-transaction fees - many retailers don't accept Amex 'cos they get shafted on the fees.
 
Placed an order on 05/04 with a company in Australia. Parcel got delivered yesterday. 2 weeks!! Awesome service!!!
