Screamer ADSL

cant you guys at screamer post something like the top 10 download amounts of uncapped screamer users on your website (their total monthly usage and line speed...for the prev month, or even better, usage per week)

stats like that would really make my decision between going with screamer or other isp's offering capless adsl soooo much simpler
 
I see most of you guys are doing heavy torrent downloading and using other p2p software. I've heard that sometimes you receive a letter(cease and desist or something) from your isp telling you to stop downloading. Has anybody thats with screamer received a letter like this so far?

I am using rapidshare (paid for premium service) using JDownloader. As long as credentials is in it works. I have had issues like you when using a telkom line but cannot 100% confirm this, maybe it was my PC at the time before being reloaded.

Download JDownloader, configure it and hopefully it works, best download app I ever used specifically catering for premium account websites like rapidshare.

ISP's normally just shape p2p, this is what Screamer is doing. Anti p2p does not come from isp but rater anti pirate companies. See below thread.

hmmm,

thought it was just me, when i first got my account i was hitting 35kb as well.

now it's 4-5kb...
 
OK so not a good start.....just signed up and went from3.39Mbps to 194kbps......this is unacceptable and I am told this is just a temporary problem. This is a 10GB 4Mbps account. Give me back my speed.

I use rapidshare with jdownloader and never have any issues with my other isp accounts webafrica, afrihost and axxess. When I get my speed back on screamer I will be able to comment
 
My connection is still so unpredictable today.
Screaming one minute, then nothing again.

Anyone else having the same problem?

I get some strange browsing timeouts here and there where i need to refresh a few times before a page load. However i'm constantly downloading from Steam and now from Sony's Station Access, both services using their own ports and i get good connection on those , haven't had interuptions on those services as of yet. Sony is a little slow sometimes, but i'm not sure if it's Sony or Screamer. SOE Station is known to be slow with updates. Overall, i downloaded about 10 GB from Steam in 5 days on a 384 line, so i can't really complain at this stage.

Argh ! Got screamer today - pathetic. 7Kbps top speed I've got so far on a 384 line. Most international sites don't open. MyBB is only site vaguely speedy. Technical support - " the voicemailbox is full!!!" probably all the folks screaming for support.
Sell a product that works - this is atrocious , really. I don't care if it's new/cutting edge,blah blah - sell it to the broader public only when it's ready.
Argh !

Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. There are tons of complaints regarding them and you still went and ordered the service, that wasn't very smart.

Take a look at Saol's uncapped for R499 a month. Its the only cheap uncapped solution that lives up to its promise.

After testing my screamer connection i must say i think its pretty crap, my browsing is slow and erratic where some pages open quick but the next is slow or timeout and i have to refresh. Online games had huge latency, like double the ms to my Webafrica and Telkom accounts. my torrent download speed with telkom reached 400kb + while screamer is struggling with 17k/bs.

Here are some speedtest results.

screamer - jhb server

these tests were done with my torrents prog downloading a single file at 17kb/s

now for telkom

These tests were done imediately after logging out of screamer with the same torrent program dowloading at speeds of between 300-400kb/s , I noticed the difference in speeds came from a certain peer that was not being connected to while logged into screamer, can someone explain this?. also a totaly different file suddenly had seeds when i logged onto telkom where screamer did not connect me to those seeds.???

There is some serious shaping or something happening with screamer and i do not recomend it to anyone interested in online gaming or downloads. I think they are not delivering what they advertise.

got my account last week right, had a DigiChilli account to but cancelled it today.

We noticed that when DigiChilli let the 4mb users go full throttle we we're all as slow as anything.

So my guess is that they've opened accounts again and don't have enough bandwidth to offer all of us. this would also exlpain the erratic download speeds i am getting. 20kb the one second, 3 the next... makes no sense at all.

was flying before last week.

I am in the same boat. Had DC, which was flying right in the last few days to month end. B4 that I had resolved to try Screamer for January - and I am wondering whether I made the right call.

Your thinking seems 100% on the head.
