Screamer ADSL

Well another day of wasted waiting to get an answer, they are going to live upto their name and have us all Screaming at them!

by checking the company's registration documents, no doubt.

It could come in handy especially if our connection goes anymore downward than it can.

This is to formally complain about the state of the Screamer Internet connection which we users have been experiencing over the last few days.

This notification is to request you to provide some sort of official confirmation of what issues you have been experiencing so that we are aware thereof, and stop posting all these useless messages.

In my capacity as a SENIOR MEMBER :twisted:(thanks to all the aforementioned posts) I hereby order you to provide feedback to the loyal plebs that make up Screamer.

if i was to say i was getting the same speeds now as i used to on my dial up account i would be liying, right now this is making my old dial up seem rather fast.
 
I couldn't browse earlier, so I switched to my other account for a while. And when I switched back a while ago, I found out that my newly loaded (very well-seeded) torrent is running between 20 and 35 kB/s - with more above 30 than not, so I am happy right now.

Started to download FC12 from IS a few days ago. Went fine with 4 download threads, resuming as needed. Until Screamer dropped today. Got an error from the FTP server, and now it (expletive removed) can't resume the download, and insists on starting from the beginning. 2/3 into a 3.2 GB download. I am not impressed with DownThemAll right now. So I loaded the torrent to see if I can get it down quickly as I need the image for the weekend *sighs*. Though that part is not Screamer's fault.

It came back on today for a quick stint of connectivity, then down again, then after various ISP switching on my router (so i could at least send emails) it came back again.

Completely unstable. I recommend you keep your Telkom ISP account active when going for these uncapped small-fry ISPs. Screamer so far only good for non-critical downloading, as an "active" service for browsing,streaming,skyping,emailing (the normal things) you're gonna have a constant fight with timeouts,disconnects and slowdowns.

I will have to agree with you there. You either get helped within 20s of calling, or you get redirected to the voice mailbox, which is either full, or never get replied to. Email doesn't get answered either.

The only time I have gotten support from them that's worth calling in for was from howzit on the forum - he sorted out my issues in a day where their helpdesk didn't bother to get back to me at all.

Oh, another thing, using smtp.adsl.co.za I cannot send email out to Yahoo. Just never arrives, and doesn't get in my spam folder either. Does anyone else here know how to solve this?

i was about to join screamer this month after waiting for DC to sort themselves out..are there problems at Screamer..especially guys on a 384 line like me ?

Yea i'm 384, connection comes and goes. Constantly dies for periods or slow down to a crawl. It seems fine overnight [while i'm sleeping] if i queue up a big download , but like right now when i try to browse/game etc, it is erratic at best.

I would like to think it is congestion, but 80% of the time it's not slow speeds but simply -nothing-. Router connects, i can ping the adress they say i should be able to ping (196.15.204.82) , but no data coming through...then i switch back to Telkom and everything fine. After an hour+ i switch back to Screamer and it might work again, or not.

Same for me

I started using Screamer on Monday after having used axxess and afrihost. Went from 30-50KB/s(afri and axxess) to 20-30KB/s(screamer). While I'm not complaining, as I could leave the connection running all night. Got 700MB, then BOOM! Just like the rest of you, it dies. Axxess and afri still work perfectly (got them as backups as I heard that screamer does this often).

It appears that Howzit disappeared these past 2 days... Is this connected to the lack of screamer access? Maybe I should have rather gone for that "after 8" option. At least people don't seem to complain much about that...

whatever you do, don't join with screamer at the moment!
keep an eye on this forum and when you see that people are happy and no-one is complaining then you should join.
but at the moment you should stay away....

when I joined my initial thoughts were that I would join for a month. the question is what do I go to from an uncapped point of view. dc perhaps sand save myself r100 bucks a month

That in itself could be the problem. They were closed to new accounts in December. as soon as they opened, they seem to have been flooded and can't keep up again. Will they ever be able to give us a decent service?

I can also advise not to join, been on a capped account since November 2009, I think all in all I have downloaded about 500MB in total using that account. Am also on a 384 line.

Every time I try use them it's so slow...no matter what time of the day it is absolutely shocking, sometimes I think my GPRS connection would be faster.

I tried connecting tonight again and it timed out on speedtest.net I eventually gave up waiting for google search page to load and decided to switch back to my SAOL account. I was not even going to attempt to download anything and waste my time.

Have also been waiting for the IP issues to be sorted out since November and well nothing.

There "technical" centre if it can be called that is not so "technical".

I am on the verge of canning the account completely!
