Screamer ADSL

Another slow night... getting 10kb/s on browsing... not cool.

Xeunox ~ I agree with you and share your pain... I am currently paying for 2 accounts because I have little faith in Screamer. Now with issues still not being resolved they taking on more clients... I don't understand it unless they need the subscribers to keep afloat. I run a production house and if I am full, I am full no use taking on more work that you cant meet the deadlines, affects quality, service and you wont just loose your new client due to poor or inferior service but your existing clients too, which ultimately results in failure and closure or death of the company to put it mildly...

I hope your company doesn't suffer the same fate... because when the line works.... it really works well and its really a great price for what you get... problem is consistency... there isn't any.... not yet anyhow...

Screamer I hope you guys know what you doing because us, your clients don't....

Had a pretty decent night tonight, i could actually game on this connection for a change (LOTRO and DDO) . Also got some solid downloading inbetween. Now if it only can remain like this more often than not.

I have been using smtp.screamerdsl.co.za

Nope, same error, unfortunately.

Code:
Feb 10 20:05:50 bugsy sendmail[12693]: o1AI5lpp012685: to=<REMOVED>, delay=00:00:03, xdelay=00:00:03, mailer=relay, pri=120439, relay=smtp.dsl.co.za [196.7.142.136], dsn=5.7.1, stat=Service unavailable

Feb 11 08:06:30 bugsy sendmail[7949]: o1B66Roi007941: to=<REMOVED>, delay=00:00:02, xdelay=00:00:02, mailer=relay, pri=120606, relay=smtp.screamerdsl.co.za. [196.25.27.119], dsn=5.7.1, stat=Service unavailable

Guess I will have to find out if there's anyone on the help desk.

EDIT: And no. The call simply gets disconnected once you're at the head of the queue.

SMTP issues

Hi,

Herewith the settings required to make use of the smtp.screamerdsl.co.za:

1. Must use Outgoing Authentication required
2. Make use of your Screamer user name and password

This should resolve your issues.

We have been given the green light to test the IP range, it is probably going to be done at 08H00 on the 12th Feb, but notices will be sent out. If the BGP is sorted and works perfectly then it will be left on, if there are routes that fail then we will switch back. Total down time expected 30Min.

Nice of you to actually let your clients know before you implement this. PLEASE also communicate such changes to your clients that want to use the service?

My problem is this: I can't authenticate. According to your server the following is supported:

250-AUTH PLAIN CRAM-MD5 DIGEST-MD5 LOGIN

None of these actually work for me, as I tried them all individually and had the server auto-select one. Can you please advise as to the correct AUTH scheme I should configure on my server? I confirmed that authentication is happening in the SMTP conversation. I also ensured my username and password is correct by copying and pasting from my PPPoE configuration.

Also, I cannot log this on my account page, as 1) my Screamer link is down AGAIN (daily occurance around this time) and 2) I cannot reach if from my other account.

This is good news!! Looking forward to it.

Guys - keep an eye on the competition - today -

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?216124-384-Kbps-Uncapped-ADSL-for-R449-per-month

and also note that Web Africa are announcing something on Monday. I have been waiting for Screamer to fix their problems before I sign up, but by the time they do that I may have signed up elsewhere.

And of course there is DigiChilli, who seem just as problematic as Screamer. I ignored them from the start because their high end packages (1MB or 4MB) are much more expensive, and that is where I am looking.

Hi Valerion, Please send me a PM with your user name and we can sort this out for you.

Just got my 384k uncapped account. Seems fast. Getting 48kbs on a single http thread.

+999999 A ip would be nice cause NAT is not Ayoba. Looking good. Much better than the 5GB I got when I signed up.

Ssssoooooooooooooooo..........

Time for no0b question.

Why is it so good to have this ip thing?

Now you don't have a ip. So you can not receive connections. So basically p2p will be very slow. Gaming might be a problem if you play mw2. If you just browse then you should not be affected at all.

Some sites identify you by your IP address. Rapidshare, for example, only allow an address you download once on a free account. So if you don't have your own, you will never get a slot. And a IP ban on a site can cause the whole ISP to be banned.

Some apps require incoming connections, which you can't do with a ISP-side NAT. Bittorrent jumps to mind, but there are MANY more that have "how to get though firewall" pages. YIM's webcam works better with it, Skype, etc.

I SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Well no wonder my torrents aren't uploading so nicely?!!??!?!?

And NO WONDER Rapidshare always gives me grief...
