Hi all,

I am looking at giving Screamer WiMax a go, as I have no access to ADSL or Neotel, and don't want to go for 3G or iBurst.

Thing is, the R3,000 up front is a bit hectic for a service I have no idea how good it will be. Can one purchase the equipment from an unsatisfied customer and have Screamer use it in the installation? And likewise, can I sell my equipment should I be unsatisfied?

Anybody want to sell theirs? Screamer did provisionally say that I should have coverage, obviously this must still be confirmed with a techie at my house.

The cost for the equipment is a once of rental, which means it belongs to Screamer and not the end user

Hi ebendl

If you are not happy with the service (I think it is within 3 months) you get a full refund of your purchase and thereafter if you cancel within 6 months, 12 months or 24 months you get a percentage of your once off rental fee refunded. Just check the percentages with your account manager.

By the way you also get 3 months to pay off your 1 time rental fee if you need it.

Can you please confirm, and check as there is no mention of this in your T's &C's

If we paid the R2900 (for the equipment), once-off..

Then do we keep the equipment, should we go with another provider?

Well not according to the T's & C's, check 3.3 "the CPE and all cabling shall remain the property of the SP"

This is why I asked for confirmation above, as there is also no indication of the refund if you cancel within 2-3 months.

I asked the question to a Screamer sales guy before submitting my application form and he confirmed the following:

"Thank you for your enquiry,

In regards to your query:

The full once-off rental fee is refundable only within 2months
Yes, that is correct, you would be refunded a percentage of your once off rental if you cancel within 6
months, 12 months or 24 months
Yes, that is correct, you get 3months to pay the once-off rental fee."

Cheers

Hi Guys

The official terms are as follows:

If you cancel your contract within 2 months you get a full refund of the once off rental charge. (This is a great for clients who do not believe our wireless services are the best in SA and want to try them for a month or 2)

If you cancel between 2 to 12 months you get R1200 back for the WiMAX CPE and R600 for a WiFi CPE
If you cancel between 12 to 24 months you get R600 back for a WiMAX CPE and R300 for a WiFi CPE

I'm relatively sure that if you filled in one form and were not notified immediately that the form is outdated, they have absolutely nothing to stand on and you should at least have the option to climb out of the contract without any repercussions. Do you still have a copy of the form you filled in?

Yes i have a copy, its not a contract so i told them to go and stuff themselves. I am fuming, and just posted in every 'screamer' thread here. I wont be billed for it(i hope) but still, i waited for over a month just to be told i need to pay 3k for there services.

I dont see they are any different from Vodacom who also don't rent out 3G cards.
I am sure that they have an option to pay it off over 3 months, why dont you ask about that instead of spamming these threads.
