Screamer WiMax

So what would be the best way to get them to revert us back to the neotel upstream?

Are you also on the Kyalami tower?

No, I'm on the Bryanston MountView tower.

You don't want to be on the Neotel upstream.. It's freeking horrible. That 1% packet loss people are somehow "happy" with is unacceptable for me.. Sure it's better than 40% but really, 40%, 1%. Might as well all be 100%. You can't ssh on it and you can't game on it.

Dear howzit

I have a problem with the public ip i applied for. I did get an ip but it never worked and everytime i phoned then the people at screamer said we will get back to you but they never do. Its been over a month now can you please sort this out for me.

thanks

Well that appears to be a completely separate network and breakout to the WiMAX and ADSL ones, so I'm guessing you want a different forum or something.

I cant find the old wifi forum so i guess its part of wimax well thats the way screamer treats it

What people fail to realise (based on my own experience) is that you can get a solid - almost good - connection for awhile. Then something will go wrong and you are back to trouble-shooting for a month before it stabilises. It is only the poor state of the South African broadband market that allows poor service like this to survive and even flourish. Just over 2 months before I move house and this time I hope I have a Telkom line.

Damn right. I've stopped fighting. I switch to my MTN HSDPA or go do something else, and I place a hold on their payments until it works again.

Back to unusable for me tonight , great.

Sitting at 16% packet loss and thats to the best server i could find.

Perfect signal though.

Anyways , im out.

Yup same story here. Pathetic.

I'm on my other connection.

Looks like we've been shunted onto ye-olde SMMT breakout.

Keep randomly getting disconnected on international though

How do you actually convince Telkom to install WiMAX? Do you have to go to a branch?

Not sure really, my Wimax order has been in the Telkom system for nearly a year. I got a phone call the other day saying they were ready to install, looks like what ever issue they had with stock has now been resolved.

It looks like they may have been outsourcing the installations to a 3rd parth but are now doing them themselves. Maybe given them a shout and see if you can get it installed.

I must say I am really impressed, no disconnects, latency is stable and I can choose my own ISP. The only downside is that the max is 512kb, not a huge issue for me as Screamer couldn't upgrade me to 1Mb due to lack of capacity.

WoW Ping 700ms - 1200ms

I am guessing this is not right... my wow ping (even when using GameMax) is between 700ms and 1200ms...

On a 1MB Wimax line with very good signal?
