Screamer WiMax

Scammed? Screwed?

Nice while it lasted I guess... IE the first week that I was connected. It looks like Screamer aren't interested in providing internet anymore...

Screamer is using vodacom blacklisted ip's in the Harrismith region, making it impossible to me to login my oversea servers!!

I'm connected in Potchefstroom... and unfortunately my area has a lot of trees to I only get 1 bar of signal and about 3 bars of signal quality. I get speeds of between 10kb/s to 30kb/s but when I do a speed test it always gives the worst results.

If I can find somewhere to place the modem with more signal, will my connection quality/ stability improve? I have dropouts sometimes as well.

Modem? Screamer is fixed wireless... are you in the right forum?

I not seen any feedback from howzit here for a long time, especially with many of us having big problems here.

Well I have sent neels, desmond and howzit a mail. If my latency issues are not sorted out, I am placing my order for Telkom Wimax and cancelling my Screamer Wimax. :)

Well Diegoa buddy, i speak from experience when i say this, Cancell your Screamer service after the telkom wimax is installed. Although lately telkom service is top knotch, it can take forever from order to date of implementation. Also please keep us posted on how your issues were resolved (if ever), i would love to hear the reasoning and what the resolution is behind this smoke screen of Screamer BS.

My internet has been offline since Sunday night... anyone else have any problems?

"works" if you can call it that. PPTP is broken, and anything real-time is not exactly real-time.

I am still awaiting replies from Howzit, neels and desmond

last night was a little high in the latency area for me.
had 1k pings for about 10min then seemed to settle back down to about 450ms.

still wondering if a service like gamemax would be worth getting to get that latency down even more if possible.

anyone here used the registry latncy fix for wow at all ? heard supposed to make the tcp packets move quicker or something.

I have. To be very straight forward, i can not give you a straight answer. I can count the number of times my connection worked properply (IE no packet loss, internal network issues...blah blah u should know this story by now) on one hand. So for me to say yes it works, i have no clue. For me with the latency fix, my lat is has always been between 580 (if i am really F*****ing lucky) and 1800 at least over the last 12 months.

Currently using gamemax and it feels like its being shaped or the network is congested because my pings are 260ms yet ingame i get about 400ms and heavy lag spikes during the week.

I got installed with a 512Kb WiMax link yesterday and so far no problems. I am apparantly 800m from a tower so that might also help. Ping times have been around 150ms and throughput as advertised (i.e. around 500kb/s download and 200kb/s upload).

My VOIP might get activated today so hopefully that doesn't affect it adversely - will post a follow up later.

I finally got a reply from Gavin, the CEO, since the rest of the staff were not interested in treating me like a human being. Finally things are sorted out..

So thanks Gavin for finally giving me some customer service!
