I am taking out a new contract. Any idea how long I need to wait for these phones to become available?

I am particularly interested in the w900.

V3G, any idea?

I asked for the W900i in december. They said I should come back in feb :P

Yeah they've got to do all that er ..um..er 'testing' right? Which is why when they get here nobody at voda has a clue how to support them. But in the mean time they are cheaper in Europe and they can pass on the savings to their customers ... er..ahem.. well that is what should happen innit voda? ;-)

The P990 and W900 will be available on SA cell networks by March 06 only...............SONY.LIKE.NO.OTHER.

The W800i is very buggy LIKE NO OTHER! Probably why they released an update so soon > the W810i, but with LESS internal memory than its predecessor. Try running Opera Mini and it reboots itself something chronic!

Actually

Actually we dont have to do that because unlike the voda store's in the uk we arnt spoon feed or given scripts to go buy or owned by Vodacom or Vodafone. The main reason we dont give an acurate date is because half the time the suppliers dont have an e,t,a on there own products or that they are actually in testing cause here in South Africa we take pride in the products we sell.;)

The W900 testing is close to completion and so far it looks like it'll pass. Then its just the (not so quick) matter of getting it through the distribution and retails channels.

Tahir's post of March sounds about right.

Dont make me laugh :D Sony E gave voda all the info, manuals & settings but they couldn't be bothered to distribute them. It took voda 3 + months to put the settings on their site for the W800i. They deleted the browser shortcuts from the network so this feature stopped working on all similar phones! I could go on..

V3G, i asked at a vodashop, while i was buying my phone a new charger, when we will get cameras, higher than 2.0Megapixels. And the sales clerk, or whatever he is said, that Lg, is releasing a 5.0 Megapixel Camera in the first half of this year on there phones.

Can u tell me if this is true, cuz i don't wanna go buy the W900, with a 2 Megapixel Cam, and all that. Then two months later the "big boys" are released, and ure like a generation behind.

Best bet is to look at the manufacturers press releases and web sites. They normally publish info about upcoming phones quite a while before they actually released, tested and available.

Thanks for the info. It will be a bit of a schlep for me, but I would be willing to help you test the phone :)

Thanks for your concern, but my passion for helping mankind outweighs the inconvenience.

I am even willing to drive to Vodaworld to pick the handset up :)

A mate of mine in Cape Town has got the W900 which he got through his connections at Sony South Africa...lucky bugger
