And PS.
What is the point of getting new customers via advertising?
Only for them to be faced with the harsh reality of the 'support' at iBurst?

Rather stop your advertising & get your accounts & support sorted out iBurst.

Oh and PS..

I know for a fact that iBurst are still charging some of their customers on their bundles from pre-April 2008...

e.g. Paying R200pm and getting 600MB of data whereas from End April 2008 they offered 1GB for R200 p.m.

Rake in the cash.
Milk the cow till it runs dry.

Let see how Seacom enters the market .But it all depends on the service providers regards to prices, which we has the end users will have to pay
 
Here's something I don't understand.

If local bandwidth is now suddenly the reason why we won't be seeing the benefit of SEACOM why can WebAfrcia and Axxess offer local only bandwidth starting at R12 per GB but international is R70 per GB?

I would understand it if the R10 doesn'/can't come down, SEACOM's got nothing to do with that. But surely there is room for the international to come down?

Thats exactly how I see it. The Int should come down to the same price as local.
What should also change is that now a higher line speed should be offered.
The majority of exchanges have been able to support 8mb DSL for ages now but my take is that you couldnt offer 8mb local only and 4mb int max as that wouldnt make sense. Now the int bottleneck will be gone so what would the reason for denying the higher line speeds be?

Correct.... that is how I understand it. They wont be able to get it lower than R12 per gig at cost.

That's what I think too. As I mentioned above, it's the single biggest deal for me that will hopefully happen post-Seacom.

IS local is +-R4 per gig. Given that Telkom give away 10 gigs per international gig implies that the fair retail price of a local gig is less than 1/10 of an international gig, which would again make it around R4 per gig.

Service providers trying to blame their +-R200 per gig "bandwidth boosters" and bundles on the cost of local bandwidth (now that international prices are collapsing) need to pull the other one.

The market is run on the basis of charging as much as one can "get away with". That is what determines market prices in SA. Very little has to do with input costs.
 
like i said before it cost them big time to install this link and they want to make something back first before they let the prices drop.
