From memory this is the first actual seacom break. The other breaks were mostly related to neotel's "land" network. The last major downtime was caused by SEA-ME-WE 4 which is a south Eurasian cable.

I price somewhere around there was mentioned on the za tech show.

Interestingly, they also mentioned there is some talk that the particular repeater model could be flawed. Lets hope not.

This is actually a very valid concern as they are presuming that only the repeater unit is faulty.
