SEACOM testing starts

If any ISP needs a tester let me know.

I am willing to help you test "abusive behavior" on your network... :D

I think telkom regards any1 that use more then a gig a abusive user. In that instance all of myBB is abusive users

We still have to wait a month or so. :( I'm so hyped about this, a month seems like a year!

mmmm wonders what the testing results are looking like , hope-ing we see a change soon in price in bw...

Can we get some info from the horses mouth so to speak .. I cant keep up with all the yes it is .. no it isnt stories ... Half the articles say SEACOM WILL bring cheaper and plentiful bandwidth, and the other half say - Dont expect prices to get better .. which is it .. I dont know wether to be excited or unfazed .. its killing me ..

I want to be excited .. really I do .. this has been soooo long coming ... but I get the Neoflex feeling when I read SEACOM articles .. and my heart cant take another dissapointment.

This is good news, only a matter of time till we start seeing change,

I for one really excited about this, and i see caps increasing by 100% easy

Dont worry ICASA will stick its head in soon regulating Seacom as to not take away business from other players ie their friends at hellkom.

Now if only we had a competent regulator to hold the ISPs feet to the fire to force down prices... but unfortunately we are stuck with IPOOPA who about as useful as aerodynamic fairings on a tractor.

These include the Seacom blog as well as a presence on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube; all of which typically require larger streams to exploit their rich multimedia content.
Twitter is a stream of 140 character messages. Hardly qualifies as rich multimedie content.

+1 I am tired of the hype. How am I going to benefit? I am not a corporate and I don't live in a gated community

Simple:
SEACOM and rest of the world: SEACOM WILL make prices cheaper
South African providers/partners: Seacom WONT make prices cheaper

translation:
seacom will make prices cheaper for providers, but the providers/partners will mark it up to current prices and make huge profits off it.

Hi. I have a stupid question. I'd really like to know how this gonna affect the average joe like myself who's not very "IT" conscious. Will it mean faster download speeds? Please explain in layman's terms. Will web pages open faster etc? That's very frustrating for me especially with my home line.

Thanks,

That sucks.

IF it increases caps, which i feel it should, you'll be able to to more on the net, i.e download more, browse more etc.

As far as speed is concerned i dont know, what i do know is that it a much better more direct link to the rest of the world, so the the latency (delay) could be i bit better (lower), as far as speed, you connection speed is your connection speed, that seacom wont chage directly

Okay, cool. I was hoping for a yes answer, but thanks anyway.;)
