No SATA menu under above though...
Thanks!

Onboard devices?

Just to make sure, this is the AM2 board right?

Yep, AM2+ though..

*edit* RAID is disabled, but can't find anything related to SATA mode or somewhere where I can choose a SATA mode.
In my SATA Sub-Menu I have:

LBA/Larage Mode Auto

PIO Mode Auto
DMA Mode Auto
SMART Monitoring Auto
32bit Data Transfer Enabled

In my IDE Configuration I have:
Onboard IDE Controlle Enabled
Serial-ATA Devices Enabled

THanks man!

Negative on all of the above... All I can think of is to try and flash with another PC, on another motherboard?

Thanks for the help thus far, I'll keep you posted ;)

Set bios defaults, if that fails maybe check the seagate site to make sure your drive is in the affected list. If it isn't then the firmware will not work anyway.

What is the madel number of your drive?

I had a Seagate 500Gb die on me two weeks ago.
Drive still spins away but the pc could not detect it.
Bios and Linux would both hang for a while in turn trying to read it, but both unable.

I also tried the Rom Flash from their site and it couldn't detect the drive..
I had to take it back to the shop i bought it from who, after 2 hours of diagnostics, told me they couldnt detect the drive :)

So they have sent it back to Seagate to determine the problem..
So now im just waiting for a replacement disk..

Is the drive spinning? if not it might be a power problem, they sometimes blow a coil on the board

Thanks for the replies guys!
I have the ST3500320AS model with the "infected" SD15 firmware...
I will try once more today, and then take it in tomorrow. As far as I can tell, it's not a power problem, the drive do start up. I really just hope that I will get my data back though.

Regards!

A while back I posted that I lost a 500G and 1t drive on the same day !
I recovered my data by switching out the pc board bolted to the hdd.
The bios bugger up is all contained on the pc board, nothing within the hdd itself.
A different board from a different capacity drive will not work due to the "reading" of sectors and drums as set by the bios flash.
This I found out after getting the same pc board from a 320 G drive and bolting it in.
You can hear the internals searching like crazy but not finalizing the search. This was due to the incorrect sectors the 320G bios was searching for on the 500G drive.
It has to be the same.
Once tthe correct pc board was fitted it was perfect and all data was recoverd. As a matter of fact Im still using that drive and waiting to find another pc board for the donor drive.
The 1T drive is bricked though as Ive not been successful in finding a working drive as a donor .
Will not junk it though as I will find a pc board sometime.

The weigh up here is, are you willing to sacrifice the exchange for a new one based on the data you want to recover or are you willing the forgo the data in exchange for a new drive.

The data can be recovered but only by flashing through the serial port on the drive. This will need to be done by a data recovery company with the necessary hardware. You had to apply the firmware before the drive failed. I don't know if there are any local companies that have the hardware. It's not a big job as the problem is that the firmware has been overridden by the log.

OKay, I'll first just try to flash it from another PC (was trying to call one of my friends at 07:30 on a Sunday morning to use his pc, he didn't take it that good :) ) THanks guys! Will keep you updates ;)

Sadly even though the drive spins up, it isn't readable by any pc I have tried..
As far as I know the Flash has to be done before the drive fails, in order to prevent it doing so in the future.
