Hi All,

My MD is having a weird issue with Oulook 2007 where when he searches keywords for an email, it wont pick up any of the recent emails but finds one from 2011. When we go and manually search through his inbox, we can see the email that he is looking for, but when searching from the search bar it doesn't find it.

Any ideas?

P.S: Using HP 620 Notebook with Windows 7 Home Basic x86

Go to your search options, there should be a option thats says "include results only from current folders, or all folders" make sure All folders are selected, also make sure the indexing is up to date

Hi there.

How do i make sure indexing is up to date?

There is a message above his search bar saying "Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed. Click here for more details" <-- Where did that come from? He has used this email and laptop for over a year and this has never happened, why would it start now?

I have the exact same problem on my work laptop HP6550b running XP Pro and Outlook 2007 I think - Outlook search will only show older results (with all folders selected) and not more recent ones, even though I can see the mail after manually searching for it - I even installed the latest instant search from MS and no change - I've actually given up as it's impossible to find anything in Outlook using the search function...
Also get the same message "Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed" - been like that for a few months now and still shows the same number of files to be indexed - the laptop is powered on with Outlook running from 0630-17h00 Monday to Friday, so you'd think it would have finished indexing everything!

I have similar issues with Office 2010 / 2011 every now and then, and I've only started working in 2010.
In cases like this I resort to OWA's (Outlook Web Access) search.

Also make sure to do a ScanPST on your .PST files. This is the 'chkdsk' for PST files program.

You can find ScanPST by hitting the Windows key and then typing in ScanPST.

PS. Talking of the 'windows key' search function. Does it find those recent emails you're looking for?

Did that but it didnt help :(

Havent tried searching for the email via "Windows Search" but will give it a go...

I had a client that has the habit of moving the mail folder (actually whole MyDocs folder) to another location - slip of the mouse when double clicking I suppose. That also caused major headaches.
