Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone can give me advice on what to do next?

I have been living at my current place for two years and the place before that for 4 years. Not fond of moving so I try to stick around.

This is now the second place where Telkom cannot service me because "The developers of the complex didnt install stuff"... The thing is I'm in my house now and the body corporate is a bunch of t055ers... Should I move to get a line? Seems heavy for a little internet connection. Surely Telkom can help me with a pole or something?

What should I do, I really need a fixed line...?

Tx

If no one else in the complex has a Telkom line, drawup a petition and the Body Corporate will then have to consider installing the necessary "stuff" in order for Telkom to provide a line.

Basically the above is correct. It sounds like there was no provision made for laying of Telkom lines when the complex was constructed, or else the knowledge of the ducts has been lost. If there are ducts for other units, and you are excluded for some reason, I *think* that you may be able to petition the Body Corporate to provide suitable ducting, possibly by claiming discrimination.

Move... seriously. You will not get ADSL. Next time you checking houses look for telkom lines.

a pole for some service doesnt seem unreasonable....

Thanks for the advice. Just for interest sake - what is the infrastructure the complex needs to provide and to where must this reticulation run to? What kind of wire etc etc? If I can get it maybe installed up to a point myself then I will try and opt for that - rather than moving.... that still seems a bit much for interwebz.:wtf:

I had a similar problem in a complex to solve it I got an electrician, you could do it yourself but the body corporate might object, to run a conduit to the central point that Telkom could already access, with a draw wire in it. Telkom them came and pulled their cable in.
