Security Gate Pricing

I want to have a security gate installed on my back door in my flat - can you guys (someone might know) tell me approximately how much it might cost: labour and price of gate.

Those in Cape Town who have had it done, where did you have it done and obviously, how much.

I had one done a few weeks back, it was a galvanised steel gate and a side panel. It cost me around 5k for everything and I'm happy. Cape Town Northern Suburbs.

damn, i got a solid metal gate and frame for around R2k (~R1700) if i recall, welded into the door frame.

Ok. Chatted to Maxidor in Durbs, the price would be about R5k as well give or take.. price would be roughly the same in CPT as well....

IMO all foldaway gates are k@k and far too expensive. Rather a solid steel gate with 2 x locks.

About 3yrs ago i had Maxidor install a few gates : Cost me about R15k. A year after that, I installed a basic one myself for R800. Its actually easy, the basic ones that is, The Maxidor setup is not DIY tho, hence not a basic door setup but for your needs, a basic one will be fine?

Xpanda was the best price vs quality for me.

Trellidoor was just stupidly expensive and Maxidor was just ***.

I welded 2x 6mm pieces of angle iron to the bottom of my front gate. These have a hole through them for a lock and I have a very decent padlock on there.

Yeah, those DIY ones are not even worth the amount it costs to print the receipt from a place like Game tbh... you can bend them with your hands, and nothing stops them being bent from the bottom or the top.

Can't use your hands to do that.. but yes, even they can be bent with the right amount of force...
