Actually, giving medical parole to Selebi is the problem. Even if all prisoners who deserve medical parole got it, that would still not make up for the fact that Selebi, convicted of a crime that carries a 15 year jail term basicaly goes scott-free. He gets released without serving ANY time in jail. The guy spent the last six months in hospital, for crying out loud.

It's not the lack of parole for others that angers me (and I suspect, many others), it's the blatant impunity with which they do these things. It's like these corrupt politicians giving the rest of us the finger. Basically, go f*** yourselves.

I like to look for the silver lining in every cloud and give the govt its dues, but honestly, there is nothing more indicative of the downward spiral of this country than things like this. When a govt feels it can act in total disregard of the wishes of its citizens, then that country is surely sliding into the abyss.

It's not just a case of unfairness. These sorts of Shabir cases are examples of pure, unadulterated corruption and nepotism, to the core of the ANC and its upper echelons...

Which means that it's true that no matter what the case/verdict is the lawyers always win.

I may just go into gang ridden communitites, go and look for families of murderers and rapists whom are ill in jail and lobby for them to be freed!

Selebi hurt the country so much, it's a total disgrace to see that there really is no justice.

Hundreds of thousands of families have been affected by his incompetance and corruption. Because of him so many people lost loved ones.

This should shame the ANC. Surely this isn't what they fought for?

I'm interested to know how he became the big chief at interpol? I did they all overlook the fact that he was friends with a dealer?

The fact that the South African who was the head of INTERPOL, turned out to be a disgraced criminal, is SUCH an embarrasment for our country. I am ashamed to even discuss it with people from other countries.

Yet, the leaders of this country never commented on this embarrasment.


Instead, the clown we have as a leader worries more about someone (almost) spilling a drink on him or someone painting him in a compromising position.

This is a very bad day for South Africa's public relations and international image. Do the ANC, mentally handicapped fools, not realize that the entire world is watching? In fact, this is bad for all the other African governments. They already have a bad name when it comes to corruption and now this. WTF
As the saying goes: A clever man learns from his mistakes, a intelligent man learns from other people's mistakes, a fool - never learns. How true.
