Self Install

I just wanted to know whether Telkom still has their self-install option. I recently moved and had to give up my adsl connection at my old house. After a bit of a wait they are finally installing new telephone lines this weekend, BUT the thought of having to wait another (insert time period here) will drive me insane!
 
Well you never know with telkom.

I asked if I can do a self install in and they said no to me cause its not available in the northern suburbs (cape town) but only in the southern. Funny though when some1 from the southern suburbs ask they say only available to the northern....

the northen suburbs supports self install (durbanville....), where as the southern suburbs doesnt...

i'm pretty sure people in the SS have gotten self-install.

It is available in the northern subs. I ordered ADSL last Wednesday, they told me the technician would visit me on Fri, 14 Jul, I then installed the router so long and realised that my ADSL line was activated already.
I called the control centre and cancelled the request to have a technician come out to my place. So my order was technically speaking a self install and I'm in the N subs.
 
Well thats kinda what happend to me! :D :D :D :D

Guy came out to install new line. He installed. ADSL was not working. Couple days later and lots of phone calls I was up and running.

I did my last install before the technician came so I know how to do it!

Hi, I ordered ADSL in the begining of June and requested a self-install. They told me it would be ready around 10 June. On Tuesday (11 June) I called telkom, the Lady said it should have been installed but it was delayed, and she escalated the call. I called again on Tuesday, Same story. Then Today (Friday) I called again and the Lady said that the port had was assigned on Thursday but had to be ressigned because it was a Self install. She said they didn't know I requested a self-install, althogh I told the Guy at Telscum customer services branch as well as well as the guy who called to confirm the order (internet order). Does anyone know why they couldn't just use the same port.
 
I requested a self install, did a self install. Then they deicided it'd be more convenient if they charged me an installation fee. The dumb ******* charged me even though it clearly states on the installation papers and when I asked over the phone that you don't pay installation fees on self installs.

Anyone got some advice?
