I have been wondering what a good system would be to allow buyers and sellers to give feedback about transactions in the classified section. Given that rpm has a severe aversion to 3rd party plug-ins due to security concerns, things like itrader are unlikely to ever happen.

So that pretty much leaves us with a Seller/Buyer Feedback Thread.
  • I would like input on what a typical post should look like. Importantly it needs to be searchable so people can easily find the feedback.
  • The other logistic is negative feedback, because as we all know there are two sides to every story. I don't want the thread to detract into a mud slinging session, but I do want to expose scammers. So perhaps we allow for a complaint and response with additional discussion diverted to its own thread?

Your comments please.

Seller/Buyer Template:

Forum Name of Seller:
Forum Name of Buyer:
Item Bought:
Seller/Buyer Experience (very short description):

End

The problem is the description because you would want a standard way to rate each seller/buyer. I would want to know things like how long it took to complete the deal, the temperament of the seller/buyer, would you recommend the seller/buyer etc.

Never going to happen.

If I buy/sell something I am no way going to write an essay to put your mind at ease.

A simple, "Great buyer/seller, would deal again" is sufficient.

I agree that you are not going to write a novel.

I was just trying to formalise it by using some type of template. If you don't have a template it will be difficult to standardise on way the feedback is given.

So using my template in an example:

Forum Name of Seller: Fred
Forum Name of Buyer: Barney
Item Bought: iStone
Seller Experience (very short description): Buyer was friendly, paid via EFT without issue.

Forum Name of Seller: Fred
Forum Name of Buyer: Barney
Item Bought: iStone
Buyer Experience (very short description): Seller was easy to reach, is trustworthy, item bought was in good condition as per description.

You could expand the template maybe, to make it a bit more standardised by adding a line for the type of transaction.

Type of transaction (Cash/EFT):
Seller/Buyer Experience (very short description):

That seems a lot better.

The main thing though would be that in order to encourage people to use the system, it would need to be quick and painless. Otherwise people will just ignore it.

Never say never ? - saying this with optimism - will be lekker to have something like itrader :)

An itrader system is a necessity imo.
Although not a reseller, i do a lot of my selling on forums instead of Gumtree or Junkmail cos a good itrader gives you more peace of mind, doesnt mean you can trust a person 100% but if someone from another town has an itrader rating of 79 positive deals and you have to pay in advance before he posts/couriers it through, you feel he wont mess you around and spoil his itrader.

I think this is an awesome idea morkhans! iTrader or not, this will be a great start. Athos I think the template is great. This is really taking MyBB classifieds to the next level (maybe also catching up a bit with the likes out there) so I'm all for it and support it for what its worth. I buy and sell online very often so this is encouragement to use the MyBB classifieds even more :)

So had a good deal on this forum... where do I post feedback?

Seller feedback:

Morkhans: Great deal and gives great advice
patrick: Excellent deal!

Essentially speaking if you are not descriptive as possible the chances are that people will move onto another add.

I personally feel that the standard template is fine however there needs to be room for being more descriptive

Baught a M.2 SSD from Flashgear a couple of days ago, great service, shipped the same day and arrived the next.

the itrader system works best.. you can view a user's feedback score based on past ratings under their nick in the post, which avoids having to click around looking for feedback for a seller.. the seller can feedback to the buyer which is just as important as the seller getting feedback.. some buyers can be a pain.. and from the itrader main menu you can search for a user to view their itrader summary and any feedback posted by buyers and sellers..

Can the price be added to the heading. It makes it easier to choose which ads are suiatble. No need to open it first to see price.
