Selling car on Weelee

Seems like they have a really cool concept. I wonder if normal people, not dealers can also bid on auctions and buy, not just sell.

No private buyers are allowed to bid according to consultant I spoke to. Guessing they are also trying to only do deals with reputable dealers.

Mmmm... Let me go and check the T&C if any on the acceptance email I received.

I sold the wife's Audi S5 privately a few weeks ago. Trade R291k. Retail R309k. I thought that was a bit optimistic, but that was the book. Anyway, went to WBC, vand they offered R180k. I was aiming forn R250k, as I thought that was quite realistic. But WBC's R180k was a slap in the face. I did not even rely to their offer.

I advertised it on Autotrader and Cars.co.za. Only got a few dealers that wanted it on consignment, so did not bother. I also advertised it on various Facbook pages, and that is where I sold it for R230k. Seems like more people are on social media that on the WWW. So my suggestion is to go that route.

You have not signed anything, you cannot be forced to sell the vehicle if you change your mind.

definitely, once the money is there in your account, obviously backing out then is a crime,

but Im saying before that, lets say you suddenly cant sell the car, for a genuine legitimate reason, and NO money been exchanged,

can you still do that?

if nothing mentioned about that, then probably can be done, but Im not 100% sure about that part.

So no show again yesterday.

I didn't bother to follow up with dealer at all. I did however inform Weelee consultant and he was very quick to phone me back after the email.

He said he would immediately follow up with the dealer and get back to me after which I requested that we should offer the deal to the next highest bidder. Consultant was also keen on that but alas never came back to me as promised. It was late yesterday afternoon so perhaps time was an issue.

I'm going to get back to one of the interested Gumtree buyers who seems really keen and my spidey senses tell me is not a time waster. See if we can arrange a convenient time for viewing and a deal today.

Otherwise I am going to reload the vehicle for another auction on Weelee tonight and see if I have better luck the 2nd time around.

Like I said. Not desperate or in a hurry to sell but it is frustrating to a degree.

Do you know if they advertise the service on any of the local radio stations or print media?

I've only heard it on 702 Talk Radio up here. Wife who listens to Jacaranda says she has heard it on there too.

I also received the registration email and another email containing the info of the submitted vehicle. Received the above mail only a day later.

New consultant allocated to latest submission.

Maybe 2nd time round?

If I get anything close to first offer I will accept again and see if dealer pitches this time.

Otherwise I'm calling quits and will abuse wife's Vleisboek account and advertise on one of buy/sell groups as suggested earlier.

Yes I came here to mention the exact same thing. Tried the website after seeing this thread, loaded the vehicle and got the email from a consultant few days later that there are no dealers in WC bidding for vehicles.
