selling mazda 323

OK so family member wants to sell her old 2001 Mazda 323.

nothing wrong with the car - fully road worthy and licensed. I've used it a few times myself whilst my car was in for a service.

since I've never sold a car before what would be a safer method to sell the car? want to avoid any scams / pitfalls etc.

sell "voetstoots"

transfer ownership or scrap the car? I prefer the later.

what would be a decent selling price?

method of payment - cash or EFT?

who's responsible for the transferring / ownership papers etc.

Is it the 1.6i?

Cash and they do the paperwork, you just have to fill in a form and sign it for them, they also need the logbook.

Depends how much cash really.

who's responsible for the transferring / ownership papers etc.

You are responsible for declaring that the car is no longer yours as the seller. So you fill in the form that says "I'm no longer the owner" as well as providing a copy of the other party's ID etc and they also sign that.

They are responsible for the roadworthy certificate and then a form that let's them register it in their name.

It's good to also generate an invoice/letter of some sorts just to say that you ID number so and so sold this car (VIN, Numberplate etc) to ID number so and so at this price on this date.

Voetstoets is only not allowed if a dealership is selling the car. Cars bought on auction are also voetstoets.

Provided they sign the yellow form and YOU hand it in, they can do their own paperwork.

You got the 323. It was a sedan and the Midge/Sting I think.

Those 1.6i engines were ROCK SOLID. I might be interested if the condition is ok and it's at a good price.
But I want the Hatchback. Want to put a EGi motor in it

by scrapping it I don't mean taking it to the scrap yard and crashing it - I mean by scrapping it on paper you force the new owner to re register it on their name / new number plates / road worthy etc. just trying to avoid any scams
