Selling on Takealot

Anonymous seller says:
"Every month I have to battle with Take a Lot for stocks that went missing at their warehouse to the amount of up to R20K / month - They will always respond denying the fact that products are missing but i push and push and then they eventually cough up the money ! We are talking about 10-20K Rand per month like clockwork ! "

Lets see if Take a Lot care to resolve the root causes that cause these stock disappearances?

Friend sells books on TaL, or should I say used to, for about 8 months

After finding out that goods (32 books) which he himself delivered and subsequently was told they had lost 3 of them and all goods were accepted unchecked, even though each batch of 8 lots was counted, ticked off and signed for, they insisted that nothing had been checked and refused to ask the inwards goods clerk

The value of the missing books was R425,00 and he never received a credit or refund. The usual response was that they were looking into it

This is a frequent occurrence, other sellers are facing alleged short delivery claims from Take a Lot for R10k !!!
Take a lot have CCTV at all their receiving points and each an every delivery is filmed BUT most sellers never receive CCTV footage of their orders being offloaded. even when there is a 10K dispute over whether r not a product was received!

I was told by one seller he had delivered goods to the tune of R80k to take a lot that they claimed were never delivered !!!! The seller fought tirelessly over hundreds of emails and over a year later was finally paid after threatening legal action...

Its quite disgusting really. These are small businesses and peoples livelihoods that this massive corporation basically steals from by not proving with solid proof that goods were never delivered. Meanwhile they probably have a massive theft problem that they are unable to resolve so they pass off the losses to sellers !

Whats worse is that sellers have to exhaust themselves with emails, calls, ticket numbers to painfully extract answers from Take a lot, they are answerable to nobody proven by their history!

Apparently there is a case open at the competition commission against them but what sellers are not confident that they will get justice or resolution.

From what I gather, if you dont sit on them for answers they will not approach sellers with solutions.
They will only create more and more problems and errors that you as a seller will have to try resolve.
Take a Lot are not an ethical business for sellers to transact with- History has now proven this.
