POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a skilled, motivated and creative full time software developer to join our growing South African informatics team. We are looking for individuals who can work independently to solve complex problems. A good work ethic and attitude is required and candidates must be prepared to deal with non-core activities such as requirements gathering and business analysis, technical documentation and effort estimations, activity logs and sundry administrative documentation, and training. Candidates should have at least 3-5 years data driven web software development experience in one of the major web platforms. SQL experience is essential. NoSQL experience is a plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5+ years of applicable work experience
Experience designing and writing bespoke web applications using Visual Studio or other major IDEs
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent recommended though extensive experience would also qualify you.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop web and windows applications, including
Be familiar data import / export to / from various formats
Implement software design components including coding, code documentation, unit testing, debugging
Write technical documentation related to the project
Follow software best practices in an Agile / SCRUM environment
Source Code Management
Reports to the Senior Technical Lead
Be a good communicator (Email, Skype, Telephonic)
Be prepared to work with a diverse international team from Africa, UK, Middle-East, India, South-East Asia, Australia, the Caribbean and USA
Be prepared to travel occasionally to developing countries.
Be able to work unsupervised and be able to see a development project through from requirements phase to implementation including training.
SKILLSET REQUIRED:
Position 1:
PHP experience essential
Javascript, jquery essential
Position 2:
Any major web framework
Optional, but advantageous experience for either position:
Django, NoSQL, Grails, Node.js, Angular.js, Bootstrap, HTML5 Boilerplate
Preference will be given to Candidates willing to work from our East London office.
