Sennheiser HD 598

Turns out none of the sellers on Amazon ship to SA and I can't seem to find them online anywhere else. Does Superfi ship to SA?

I can get a pair of HD515's for about R770 delivered off ebay (excl customs). Seems like a trusted dealer as well. Do you think its a good deal?

Thanks for your help so far btw :p

Email them and ask. I don't see why they wouldn't do it for you via Royal Mail etc. :/

Pleasure.

Those HD515's should be 50 Ohms if I'm not mistaken, so you should be able to use them without an amplifier too.

You would probably pay 14% tax on 110% of that item's value. That 110% of the value is EXCLUDING shipping.

Have you looked at the new Shure SH 940? Not sure if anyone here sells them but they're meant to be seriously killer price/sound.

I've taken a slight detour (well, more like a u-turn) and decided to put the headphones on hold. Getting me 2 60GB Corsair SSDs (RAID 0) instead :p

Going to keep an eye out for those Goldrings though - they seem like an absolute steal!

Only reason I'm going for the two second-hand 60gb drives in RAID-0 is that worked out cheaper than getting a single 90gb/120gb drive.

Don't think a single 60gb would have been enough for my windows install (windows + adobe cs5 + office etc.). I'll see how it goes though..might end up selling the second drive.

They're Corsair Force 3 drives, so its SandForce SF-2281 afaik. It seems that a lot of the bugs/bsods have been sorted out through firmware updates.

I'm just praying that I don't have any problems :p

I doubt you will as long as you are not stupid and you don't keep important files on the drive with no back ups then you will be fine.

OT, but a quick question one of you guys can answer in a sec. Is it worth getting better headphones for my ipod nano? That is, will I notice the difference in sound quality?

Absolutely, but try stick to something with lower Ohms as they'll requires less power to be driven. Look for ±32Ohm.

You mean less voltage swing. Power required will only be related to the transducer sensitivity... Higher impedance (Ohm) will mean less current is needed to deliver the same power, but higher voltages...

Alright, not an electronics fundi. My point is iPods and such are best paired with low impedance headphones.

Wanting to buy the hd 202 for a gift.
Anyone know the best store to get these from.
Also I see there is a hd 202 mark II vs the 202, is there a significant difference if I can't source the mk II?

Thanks in advance.

Where's the cheapest for the 598's locally?

Otherwise how much difference between that and the 555 with and without the mod?

Thanks :D

The new HD 598 CS (Closed Back) is out. I was shopping around for Sennheisers, just before I gave up searching, I wondered what they cost on Amazon. So I checked, typed in Sennheiser, and bam! HD 598 CS Black, on Lightning Deal sale for only a few hours. I just couldn't resist.

R2003.66 Including tax, import and delivery. Expecting delivery on 23 Dec. The only crap thing though is that they don't come with a 6.3mm-3.5mm adapter :(

The 1.3m 3.5mm cable is a bit too short for my PC, and my Asus Crosshair M/B doesn't have a 6.3mm port.

Still I think it was a good deal. :) I still have my 10 year old HD 202 that I use at work.
