hey guys

anyone know if this will work for us here in SA?

http://www.htc.com/hk-en/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=765&news_id=355

this seems to be generic version... will it work on ours?

"2. This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading."

I tried by putting my serial number in, but it told me that it wasn't available for my handset. Guess we gotta wait for Leaf to get there stuff together.

are our handsets vodafone? coz i got mine at vodacom

are there any guys from local leaf who visit this board?

there is an htc magic firmware update available on leaf.co.za , but its just call

RUU update magic.exe

any ideas what that is?

and then after a bit more google research i found this

"Bad news for anybody hoping to get HTC’s latest Sense UI on their existing G1 or Magic. As we suggested might be the case yesterday, HTC have confirmed that due to the licensing terms of providing “with Google” branded smartphones they’re not allowed to offer Sense UI as an upgrade. The confirmation most directly affects those who bought their Android device through a carrier, such as the T-Mobile G1 or the Vodafone Magic."

You won't brick your phone. I flash my phone at least once every two months - there's no issue whatsoever. If you want to return your phone (on the guarantee) simply reflash the official ROM and HTC / Leaf will never know, or care.

As far as I understand HTC supports xda-developers as it is effectively an additional development department. Many of the official HTC developments are bought from developers at xda-developers.
