Sentech discontinues MyWireless Classic

Sentech said that, on the standard package which has the largest number of Classic users, 85% of the users would pay less on the equivalent Flexi Package based on their current average data usage.

i.e.: i just got shafted for using what i'm paying for...

Rephrased

discontinuing sales of the Classic Product for three reasons.

firstly :a small percentage of users on the Classic range were utilising over 50% of Sentech’s network resources thereby making the Classic range non-viable.

secondly: a small percentage of users on the Classic range were utilising over 50% of Sentech’s network resources thereby making the Classic range non-viable.

and thirdly: a small percentage of users on the Classic range were utilising over 50% of Sentech’s network resources thereby making the Classic range non-viable.

rephrased:

firstly: Ag shame, some people seem to be paying too much for what they use currently and we really care about our customers.

Secondly: we are too incompetent to live up to our initial promises so we have to get rid of the people that use our bandwidth for what it is supposed to do

Thirdly: by getting rid of savvy internet users we can make space for more ignorant people who think our flexi packages are value for money whilst not having to invest one cent in the upgrade of our infrastructure.

if i understand correctly, the soft cap will just be enforced now if you refuse to 'migrate'. You won't lose your contract?

“With Sentech due to upgrade their download speeds in the very near future, Premium users will also benefit from being on MyWireless Flexi,” Sentech said

that seems very imminent to me...

So effectivley softcaps become hard caps. Unless u want to pay R500 / gig beyound your 10/20/40gig limit

Ag shame they care sooo much for their consumers: cr@p.

This is happening for one reason, they make more money this way.

Now Michell's got a BM and Winstons got a island!

What? No new package offerings? That's dismal.

The Flexi packages are seriously un-Flexi if you want cheaper bulk bandwidth.

Existing MyWireless Classic contract customers will however be able to continue using the service until the end of their contract.
Hmm. The way I read that (and the rest of the article), existing MyWi customers can either upgrade to MyWi Flexi immediately, or they can stay on their current MyWi Classic contract until it ends, at which point their only choices will be to switch to MyWi Flexi or leave Sentech.

The classic service offered had a softcap of 10gig on 128K, and 20gig on 256K.

Now they offer this flexi service, where if users use 500mb or so , yeah sure they will be paying much less.

But if you go and use 5gig or 10gig now, you'll be paying about 4-5 times as much as you did for your "Classic 128K / 256K" account :>>

Just got "the call' from Sentech. I've asked them to email or fax me their proposal.

Now to get an iBurst quote.

The modem will set you back about two grand. Half a gig cap is R299/month. Three gig is R599/month.

The limit on iBurst is a hard limit. You get cut off in mid download. And then you can't even get back in that confirm that you habe been capped. But the speed is pretty good while the cap lasts.

The new Telkom

Just the other day I was 'backing' Sentech in another thread.. and was told that Sentech was discontinuing it's Classic package.

Here I am.... Is all the bitching actually going to make a diffirence? Its actually quite redundant.... And Sentech has officially topped my **** list in conjunction with Telkom... but the point is mute.... I still use/need/want internet and have to use Telkom.

But... and attention to all Sentech employee's on the forum... You have lost this customer too.

I called to enquire exactly how this would affect me (I am on 256k classic).. basically if I want the same service with a 3G cap, its going to cost the same as I am currently paying, If I want a 10G cap.. its R1000+ (I stopped paying attention at this point.)

Can I say it again.. it juts makes me feel better...

Sentech... you have lost me as a customer now. I have been with Sentech for 2 years, I am now going to look at Iburst. If they in any way offer a package that is even marginally better (or worse) I will sign up with them. Money talks in this country and Sentech will be getting no more of mine.

I wonder where we can get stats on how many customers Sentech loses & Ibusrt gains at the end of October 2006? .. and more importantly, how many of the new Iburst clients are ex Sentech..

Sentech FTL.. Open season on Sentech...

No dude.. from the 1gig options and upward its softcapped. You get 64kb unlimited access after your cap. It works very well after cap, and some peopel simply get the 1Gig option and get capped straight away then live on uncapped 64kb and pull up to 30gigs a month. If they try hard, but 10gigs will be easy.

Yeah, that's right. You can also top up your bandwidth easily and effortlessly.

Ahaha this is what we call suprise buttsex people we didnt even see it comeing.

I got a year left on my contract on back of that ****ty piece of paper it states that if u were to break contract u will be forced to pay a amount upto R4000 and modem costs.

Which i cant afford so ill be one of the few who will stick with sentech for now and see what happens but trust me i am going to make them work for me and this connection

BTW ill be staying with the now defunk classic package and when my contract ends ill dump sentechs sorry ass

Sentech Classic

Once again the consumer gets screwed. The only (affordable) uncapped broadband system is now coming to an end.

It amazes me that Sentech has the audacity to claim that users will be better off -- let's be honest, the uncapped nature of the offering is why most people were using MyWireless. It is certainly not because of network stability, customer services for speed.

Sentech has also totally forgotten that it is the diehard Classic customers who helped launch, "test" and establish the myWireless service and this is the thanks.

I for one will be ending both my subscriptions.

Sentech Idiots.

The people running sentech are a bunch of morons, honestly... Its such a basic and simple concept to grasp: "Develop trust with your customer!" None, but the stupid, will trust them from now on... I wish i could just go up to all those dum arse customers signing up for flexi packages and smack some sense into them... "Wake up, you turd!!"... then smack the employee trying to sell it to them! Then their boss and their boss till i get to the big idiot at the top of this idiotic company and smack him too!! I suggest everyone still having contracts to rape this stupid lil "government sponsored" company for all the bandwidth they have!

Aaaah, I feel better now :)
