I'm using Sentech with the router/hub thing and every so often the device simply goes for a ball of ****. All that needs to happen to fix it is a reboot. Any idea's what the cause may be?

I'm still on a v4.x firmware (haven't updated to the v5 firmware because my speeds are good), could a firmware upgrade help fix this?

Question:
1. What make and model of Router are you using?
2. Have you upgraded the firmware of your router since you bought it?
I doubt that this is a IPW Modem problem.

I've been battling with connection drops for the last week. Sometimes the connection will stay up for a couple of hours, and sometimes only for a few minutes. Initially it was being caused by my modem loosing signal. I repositioned my antenna on Friday and my signal is rock solid. However, on the weekend I kept getting dropped. Almost looks like Sentech MAY have put some sort of "idle timeout" on the system. If I keep the modem busy, it stays connected, but if it's not busy (just the odd pop3 mail check every few minutes), it seems to drop the link. GO FIGURE...

This is not new.... in fact this exact problem was reported to Sentech in early June.
(Constant disconnects, sometimes as often as every few minutes.... yet if the modem
is busy... the disconnects occur less frequently).
I'm told it relates to delay problems with the Radius system. (It goes to sleep :)
Fastcom and Sentech were made aware of it, yet have chosen to look the other way!
(I eventually cancelled my contract because of this!)
Suggest you talk to Kallie at the helpdesk... he seems to be the only person who
was honest enough to admit that this issue exists!!!

Thanks for the info dbnnet. It's stayed up all morning, but has also been quite busy. We'll see if it last through the night...
