Sentech looking for a revival

Now, the word Broadband is used seven times in that article, if iburst is no longer broadband then sentech never was and will never be.

They're unlikely to get a revival--original attitude was not customer centric. If they manage to change that and quietly develop their product to be robust at a good price and develop a truly customer centric attitude, they might stand a chance.

My view is they'll get more funds--likely tax payers money, and without above it'll also not succeed. They didn't and don't have a captive market. So they need to give the customer what the customer wants.

Above goes for Telkom too and probably most other telcos.

Way too little, way too late. After Sentechs disgusting behaviour, I would never trust or support them. Instead of blaming your customers for your shortcomings, why don't you place the blame where it needs to be placed? Right on your own lap Mr Smith.

The sentech offices in cape town, dont even get sentech coverage...
If you go there they cant test your hardware.

Shamefull

I cant understand why Sentech don't just give up. They waisted too much of tax payers money, and failed miserably in every and all aspects of running commercial operation.

Any possible way they attempt to rationalize their demise will not erase the wrong doings of the past. Sentech has molested the client base for way too long, if they can find more suckers to buy into their technology and faulty business model good on them.

The only thing Sentech can do to try to rectify the situation is to buy back modems that MAJORITY of EX Customers is stuck with and is using for a door stop now.

Shame on you Mr. Smith, shame on you....tsk tsk tsk

Smith Must Go

When I saw the thread " Smith Must Go" I thought it was about Winston, until I saw it was in the sports section.

Perhaps there should be a "Smith Must Go" in the Sentech section?

Sentech is Broadband. Just as...

War is Peace.
Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength.

Winston Smith,
I wanna know,
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

Do they want to compete who has the crapiest service?

After they ditched their customers, now they want them back again?

This does not make sense to me ... instead of listening to their customers first and giving what their customers wanted, they bullied their customers, and many left.

Now they're in dire straits.

Which serves them right, and should be an lesson to others.

I look forward to WiMax being widely rolled out. It will be the first long-range wireless service that uses standard equipment and thus negate the need for R2000/24-month contract equipment.

If Sentech can roll out the nation's first widespread WiMax network it might give them a decent headstart.

If Sentech introduce a prepaid usage based option that rolls over indefinitely, with ZERO monthly fee, then I would consider joining again just as a backup for ADSL when the phone line goes down and Telkom take weeks to fix it. After all, I still have my modem, which at the moment is acting as a Christmas decoration on the wall.

IF you have ever been in negotiations with Sentech, you will find that it's totally useless to speak to them - especially Smith. They're big on talk and small on delivery. Also one of the main reasons Atlantic Internet doesn't support their services anymore (what services?).
Let Smith:eek: go, he's just a talker and get the politics out of that company, otherwise it will be the same story over again.

Give the municipalities the money

Now that the municipalities are looking at rolling out broadband, the government should rather give them the money than wasting it on Sentech. We will have a better chance of seeing some decent bandwith and connectivity them.

I am still sceptical about somebody like JHB muncipality offering broadband, they are not even able to reconcile electricty bills or get meter readings done correctly, or even synchonise 2 robots.... this is much more complicated.

The only revival they are likely to find, having hacked off so many customers, is at the local Church Revival Meeting!
