Serie a 2010/2011

Yes beating the mighty mazembe and seon, massive achievement. He has already lost more games then mou did last season, already conceded more goals in the cl then we did the entire last season in the cl.

He is failing in the competition that matter. Serie a and cl is what matters the other competitions are mickey mouse cups. Managers at inter are judged on serie a and cl.

The world club championship is still regarded by most as somewhat of an achievement !

Will it have meant more had Inter beat the Brazilian team in the final ?

Who are these most you talk of?? Most inter fans on the boards I visit certainly did not regard this as meaning much, they were happy the side won it but certainly not thrilled. Our biggest fear was that it may hide the fact that benitez isn't cut out for this job, thankfully that doesn't seem to have happended.

Just compare the reaction of the inter players after winning the cl and this cup that will tell you what means a lot and what is nice but major.

The club world cup means a lot for the smaller nations clubs but for the big european sides its rather irrelevant in the major scheme of things. The european side should win it, if they lose its its considered an embarrasment.

The south american side would likely have put up a better fight but this year internacional is in terrible form, 7th in the brazilian league.

Ask Fergie !!!

Most English teams will love that trophy in their cupboards.

Very true. Any side would rather be clearly in the running for their domestic title than win this trophy.

The Internazionale president, Massimo Moratti, has refused to comment on media reports suggesting he has sacked Rafael Benítez as coach due to a dispute over transfers.

"I prefer not to talk today to avoid the risk of creating controversies," Moratti told reporters. Today's edition of Gazzetta dello Sport said Benítez, who has only been in charge at Inter for six months, is to be replaced by the Zenit St Petersburg coach, Luciano Spalletti.

On Sunday, Moratti had labelled comments by Benítez following Inter's triumph in the World Club Cup as "inappropriate". The Spaniard told a news conference in Abu Dhabi that the club had to make signings in the summer or else he would speak with his agent about his future.

The Italian club's fifth trophy this year had appeared to have secured Benítez's job after a poor start to his tenure in charge of the Italian and European champions, having replaced José Mourinho in the summer following his departure to Real Madrid.

Inter currently sit 13 points behind Serie A leaders Milan and only qualified in second place from their Champions League group, behind newcomers Tottenham.

He will get his marching orders from wednesday on according to sky italia, moratti is in madrid till then. They say the replacement is between luciano spaletti, leonardo and fabio capello. What is certain from the press and former players/current agents in the italian game is rafa is done at inter.

OMG dude do you really know your soccer? the World Club Champ Trophy you pitted up against what kind of teams? Europe and South America are the two biggest nations in Soccer and you really think Inter fans should be over the moon with Rafa winning against an African team???

For ANY Italian team winning the League is TOP prority, the Champions League is second to that then any other Trophy available.

Bwahahaha I think Rafa's 3 ultimatums just pushed Moratti over... bye bye Rafa!

I think his fate was sealed even before the cwc. That little speech of his just gave us an easy way to justify it.

Shame pool this must be hard to take ;)

Hell even I thought he'd win SerieA with that team. Never imagined he'd bomb so spectacularly.

Sky says inter have told rafa that his job is over, they want him to resign. Ofcourse he has refused to do this. So now they have to work out the severance package...

Yup.

Bob Parkhurst: I want to see how a war is fought, so badly.

Captain Blackadder: Well, you've come to the right place, Bob. A war hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, high chief of all the vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside.

Latest figures seem to suggest he should be getting something like €8 million as compensation. So taken with the €6 million he got from lfc, that's €14 million for failing at his job this year...

Henceforth he shall be known as the Extra-Special One.

Some of the comments on here are ridiculous........except the Blackadder quotes, they're great.

bwahahahahahaha a failure of a coach just waltz into Inter as head coach, after failing at liverpool and now at inter... Rafa won't be hired ever again :D
