Nah, safest bet is a walk on a main road to the shops these days.Walter Sisulu and Kloofendale are still fine to go for walks

I needed to go there to get a gift for someone last week. Ended up leaving in a foul mood.
I knew the store I was looking for was in there but store EM1012 blah blah on google means nothing. Ended up wandering around like an idiot using maps on my phone to try find the location marker. Get to the location and nothing. Went to one of those electronic info boards disguised as an advertisement. Nothing. Felt like Joe Biden trying to find his way off a stage. Eventually pointed in the right direction by a lone security guard.
On my way out the machine stole my R10 note for parking so had to pay again with card. Find car in empty labyrinth of a car park only to find that they had covered up all of the arrows on the exit signs so more time wasted trying to solve that annoying puzzle.
And those slippery floor tiles will probably end up killing an elderly person one day.
There's meant to be a pretty well regarded independent steakhouse in there. No idea how to find it though. There are also no decent places to eat - just regular fast food-type places and a Mug & Bean. I went with my sisters a few weekends ago for gift shopping, and we felt like a cocktail. There is not a single place to have a good lunch and cocktail except Mugg and Bean. It's very meh.
I also really dislike their flooring in the large open area. When the sun is overhead, the shine from those tiles is very disorienting. Not to mention they are very slippery. I shop there out of necessity when I have multiple stops.
I don't think they are catering to the market around them, tbh. Seeing more and more discount-type stores going in (like PEP, Crazy Stores, etc). While it is not a bad thing, I just think it's indicative of how poorly the market has reacted to this mall.
The fact that the older part of the mall looks dilapidated does not help either. It's not cohesive. I suspect Covid probably derailed their plans quite a bit.
Too many shops and not enough food and entertainment. They should use all the shop space on the far side of the large open area opposite the starbucks as proper restaurants like sandton square (fast food can stay by the cinema), but I guess part of the construction didn't add in appropriate plumbing, exhaust, and whatever else needed for kitchens. I think their parking has an extremely short if not non-existent grace period, should make it at least 30 minutes free.
Old age, mostly. What the reason? High rent or crime.
Agreed with the no decent place to eat. There used to be a restaurant called Ruby's many years ago and they were awesome but then they closed down and now the mugg and bean took over the space. If I am that side of the world and want something to eat, I rather go to the casino. Much better choice for restaurantsThere are also no decent places to eat - just regular fast food-type places and a Mug & Bean.
