Serious Windows 7 Networking issue SOLVED

Hi

I am having a Serious networking issue with Windows 7

Here is what's happening and what I have tried to sort it out

I have a Small network here which we use for high speed internet. I have a mixture of Windows 7, Vista and XP machines. I have a Window 2003 DHCP DNS and WSUS server on the network.

The Network has a Cisco 1841 Router which routes internet Traffic in and out of the network

All the machine connect to a Cisco 2950 Switch

Since Tuesday all the windows 7 machines will not work on this network XP and Vista machines are fine.

I have rebuilt the windows 7 machines from scratch still no luck I just get unidentified network and some arb IP address even if I put a Static address they still don't work I cannot ping anything I just get this unidentified network. I have changed the MAC addresses on the machines no luck.

If I plug them into our main production network they work find but not this internet network which they need to run on.

I have replaced the switch, Router moved the DHCP server to the Router and still no luck they will not connect to the network. I have also downloaded the Latest Network card drivers I have tried everything I can think of and these stupid machines will not work on this network

Has anyone had this issue with windows 7 before or has anyone got any advice.

Thanks

Briefly:

Disable Router DHCP. Let Windows 2003 handle DHCP.

Keep everything default, but add the router gateway address as the gateway in TCP/IP V4 settings.

To do this, open ncpa.cpl (start>search)> right click on the LAN connection (wireless, whatever you use) and go into TCP/IP V4 advanced settings. Look for Gateway and click add. Add the router address there (for instance 192.168.1.254).

Give it a shot and let me know ;)

Why? Windows 7 isn't hardware.

Anywho. OP you can also try and disable IPv6. I've had some issues with IPv6 and Windows 7 networking. Give it a try.

Then in the Software section then.

This is Software & Web Development

You need programming help? Awesome, we're here to help... setting up your network? Eish, Hardware techies... (or Software in your opinion). Section here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=182

Yeah I have done this already I actually entered a static ip address and when I try ping anything on the local network I get a Destination could not be reached

I have also disabled the windows firewall on all interfaces

I have also disabled IPV6

Still no joy

If you do it as I explained, you won't have a problem. Don't use a static IP and don't enter the Gateway in TCP/IP general properties. Enter it at ADVANCED properties under Gateway.

You haven't done it.

Yes I have done that

I meant to say that I had done this and put tried to put in a Static ip.
Both were unsuccessful

Is your 2003 server updated? (Windows Update).

There were many Windows 7 related updates the past month or so. Just check.

can you ping ANY other machine on the network fron a win7?

Nope I don't get an ip address under DHCP so even when I put a Static address I cannot ping anything even on the same subnet

When I plug the machine into another production network it gets an ip and I can ping anything

The messed up thing is the XP and Vista machines on the network I am having a problem with they all work fine

I somehow think IPv6 wouldn't be a problem if he's got a Vista machine already connected on the network.

Could very well be a driver issue, have you tried uninstalling the current drivers and deleting them from the machine, restart the pc then allow it to install the standard Win7 drivers?

Yeah that was one of the first things I tried

But please understand this is happening on 3 different machines one is a Fujits Siemens Laptop the other is a Lenovo Laptop and the other is a Dell Desktop I downloaded the latest windows 7 drivers from the sites and I downgraded to the orginal Windows 7 Driver

No Luck

Ok I have now fully patched the Windows 2003 Server still not working

I've asked the mods to move this thread seeing as it doesn't belong in the Development forum at all

Try the following:

1. Manually set the gateway and DNS settings to the server's IP.
2. Set the Win7 IPV4 IP address to 192.168.0.253 (Assuming server's IP address is 192.168.0.1).
3. On Win7 PC go control panel / system. Under computer name, change settings and join the domain.
