Server 2012 Ess with desktop hardware?

HP removed the ML110 which was nice entry level server. I want to supply a server 2012 essentials to a customer and was wondering if I can use a desktop hardware. I know it is not ideal but this guy does not want to spend money. Has anybody done this I am worried about drivers.

Most of the drivers for 7/2008 work with 2012,seen a few sticklers though

You can do it, u just need to watch the drivers. Intel doesnt want you to use desktop hardware with server software.
