Service shocker

Where's the best place to get spares though?
For instance I've been looking for wiper blades for my Toyota for months now but can't find anything that fits. Midas doesn't have. Don't want to go scavenge in a junkyard and I refuse to pay Toyota R400 for 2.
So where do you guys get parts? Is there an online shop maybe? :D

Something you just know or find out. If I cannot get what I want from Midas, Autozone etc I call a biggish Muslim shop (Moolla's Wholesale Car Parts) in Beatrice St, Dbn. If they don't have it they will make a plan.

When your car is under service/maintenance plan, that's the ONLY time you should take it to a stealership. As for aftermarket brake pads backfiring? I don't think so! Do you think Honda has fitted HONDA brand brakepads?

I don't care what brake pad they use, they fitted it so if some problems arise its all on them, they can't come and tell me ja but you fitted your own stuff so now we are not gonna honor your warranty. Thats what i mean.

I no they probably use some other cheap **** but that does not matter. Its their job to keep my car running in my service plan and whatever they want to do they do it. They take responsibility not me. But if i start fitting my own stuff and servicing myself bye bye service plan and warranty so until then they can fit what ever they like.

Oh and i have seen too many now it all guys wanting to do everything themselves (read cheap) and in end they end up paying double. So atm i am happy with the service but am alos ware that they are out to rape you.

Goedkoop koop is duur koop.

Only if you are an idiot and don't know what you are doing. Else you will have to kuk en betaal ;)

I agree.
I've saved myself tens of thousands of Rands servicing and fixing my own cars.
Not only do I save money on labour and parts but I'm meticulous and do a better job than most agents without breaking something else in the process.

Most places that service/fix vehicles (including the agents) are in the business to make money and they rush the work often leaving bolts loose or breaking or damaging things in the process.

What the agents do is charge you the time that is in the service manual but rush the job to do more work.
Example:
If workshop repair manual for a vehicle says that it takes 1 hour to replace a cambelt and they can do it in 15 minutes they'll still charge for 1 hour of labour.
This means that they could do 4 vehicles in 1 hour and charge for 4 hours labour when in fact they only spend an hour doing the work.
Bunch of sharks ...

Im making it my mission to tell everybody NOT to go to Auto-Station in Bellville (Durban Road) After sending my car for a major service i noticed that it had a oil leak, i took it back and they claimed it wasnt their fault and that i needed a new oil pump that would cost me R2600. I took the car for a second opinion and it turned out the "mechanic" didnt replace all the bolts after replacing my cam belt and that is what caused the leak. I suspect they purposely sabotaged the car.
