Setting up a second TV with DSTV

So I found out last night that I can actually just use a DSTV switch and get an Xplora decoder if I want a second TV set up. This will bypass the need to get a smart lnb. Anyone know about this?

Yes, but Smart LNB's are cheaper than DStv switches... and also, to future proof you have to run 4 cables from LNB to switch.

You have a couple of options. One way is to buy a single view SD decoder and then connect it to the existing dish/LNB and then link it to the existing HD-PVR with a heartbeat cable and then enable extra-view.

The other option (bit more expensive) is to buy another HD-PVR and then connect it the same as above.

Option two is better overall since you will have HD and PVR functionality in both viewing environments.
Good day how do I connect my dstv explora 3a to watch TV in my room to watch the same Chanel as in lounge

Coz I see explora 3a Doesn't have rf out

I installed extra-view myself a while. It wasn't difficult at all. You can buy a quad LNB, send two wires to the one HD-PVR and the other two wires to the other HD-PVR. Then you will have to install a cable between the two decoders for the heartbeat.
The new decorders have only one input, so how do u connect the cable from the LNB and the cable for heartbeat then?

Get a smart lnb and you don't need a heartbeat cable with the newer decoders. The heartbeat is done in the lnb so only run 1 cable to each device and xtraview will be sorted.

Thanx Sirus...secondly, I have an old DSD decoder with RF IN port as primary decorder and want to link the new HD decoder, with only LNB port, as a secondary decoder, how do i go about connecting the two? Do i still need smart LNB?
