Please any links would help.We are 3 PC's with Win7 and 2 PC's with WinXP.Xp is not the problem.I don't know how to setup Network for LAN on Win7and XP for all the pc's.Biggest problem is complete filesharing.

Setting up Network on Win7 for LAN..

ok - win7 was a little weird when it comes to networking
out of all the solutions (running DC++ servers instead of using windows sharing, etc) I finally got win7 to network
ok, the most essential part is to go into your network settings window, and click on "choose homegroup and sharing options" - that is the KEY to get it to work
go through the steps, and it will give you a SERIAL NUMBER/KEY - use this on the 2nd PC when it asks you to do so (it will know if they are already connected by a lan cable)
enter the key, and voila!
now you just need to right-click on a folder > properties > sharing tab > click "advanced sharing" button and then tick "share this folder"
bam - done!

Why is it so harsh to share your C: drive and on XP network settings?
Oh, i see you have 3 pc's, with win7 and xp on them
well i'd suggest just giving all the pc's an ip of 192.168.1.x (x = 1,2,3 for each PC) in your TCP/IP settings
when you have a switch it works much easier than through a direct cable

But filesharing?
just share the folders or hard drives man - you can share any drive/etc just by right clicking it and sharing it?

Nope,not that easy cause the other PC's still cant access the stuff I share.Got a site that says I must go to advanced sharing and add "everyone" and the give it full control to others and I'm not willing to spend that time for each folder....

Ok, I set up my Win7 pcs as if they are on a work network... the homegroup thing sux! Make sure all the PC's have the same workgroup. Under Advanced sharing settings in Home or Work profile I used the following settings:
Network Discovery = On
File & Printer Sharing = On
Public Folder Sharing = On (anyone with network access can read & write files)
Media Streaming = Off (I dont need it)
File sharing connections = 128-bit encryption
Password Protection Sharing = Off
HomeGroup connections = Allow Windows to manage
Then on the folder you want to share, Right click, Share with specific people, add everyone (read only)
you can do the same for your complete hard drive, if you really want to....

PS: if you trying to share FROM Windows 7, DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT share as you usually would - you NEED to click on advanced sharing - there you WILL NOT need to say which users can do what - Advanced sharing is actually the simple one in my experience. (weird, i know)
