Hi everyone,

I'm new here so please be nice if this is a stupid question... :D

I connect to to the internet with 8ta mobile (normal USB stick). I want to create a wifi network so that my cell phone can effectively 'share' the 8ta internet access that my laptop uses.

Is this possible? If so, how?

Thanks!

Which OS do you have on your laptop, and which cellphone do you have? If you have an Android phone and a Windows laptop, the bad news is that you can't. You could however use the internet pass-through option.

Um, could you guys please explain it step by step like I'm a 4-year old? :(

I use an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy) and Windows 7. I connect using a Huawei E173.

Easiest way is internet pass through. Connect up your E173 on the laptop and then plug in the phone via USB - it should give you an option of how you want to connect, select internet passthrough.

If you go the router way it'll obviously differ depending on which router you get.

WiFi router is surprisingly simple. Plug the USB modem into the router, connect the router to the PC/laptop with the included (well, mine was) ethernet cable, and access it via the browser. The IP of the router would be the default gateway if you do an ipconfig.
From there you configure your service provider and security settings and you're done.
