Hi everyone.

I just realized that my downloads is a bit slower than usual, so I went into the Clientzone and saw the following:

shaping.JPG

Now how can I be shaped already for just using about 18GB's in only 15 days, that's just a bit over 1GB per day, surely that's not so much?

Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

And people wonder why I will never use them? You get what you pay for

Yeah an experience with no issues at all. Was not not affected by the multiple cable breaks. Guess you get what you pay for.

OP why don't you click one of your 5 free turbo boosts

Mweb had issues for a very short time. With AH is there really such a thing as true uncapped?

Yes, at least Afrihost doesn't boot you off the network after you have downloaded a random amount. I am on Afrihost 2mb business uncapped and so far have NO issues. Account works perfectly, I had endless issues towards the end of my MWEB usage.

Interesting I am on Mweb and do about 500-600 gigs a month no issues

I switched from 4Mbps Mweb Premium to 6Mbps Afrihost Business Uncapped. For less than R200 more than I was paying, I get a 50% speed increase, a clientzone that blows the competition out the water (cannot overstate the usefulness of having control over your own line) and 24/7 unshaped internet.

There's also the benefit of being with an ISP with the right attitude. Afrihost seems to be the only ISP in SA desperately trying to move internet forward. And you can give cancellation notice any time before the 25th of a month for your accounts to terminate at the end of a month.

As it happens, I was receiving between 1 and 2Mbps from Mweb for many weeks before cancelling, and since changing to Afrihost my ADSL speed now correlates to my 6144Kbps sync speed.

It's always important to remember that shaping is primary capacity based, and less on data threshold or the time of the day. The shaping displayed on your account is at a specific moment in time, and when we checked your account (sorry, we traced your IP address) we can see that you also spend a large time of they day unshaped as well.

Our intention is always to shape the least amount of people to the least extent, and give people and unshaped experience for as long as possible without affecting overall latencies on the network.

Another quick mention, don't forget that you always have 5 free Tubrcharge sessions per month, so this might have been a great chance to use one of them to make sure you get full speed on your torrents and file sharing (which are the only protocols that are affected by shaping.

Are you rdownloads only slow during the day? If so, if you are not on a premium account, you can't really complain.
