Share MTN data on Afrihost sim

I have an Afrihost SIM that I use in my tablet, that I would like to link with my MTN data contract when the Afrihost data runs out. I have created an INTERNET and MYMTN APN on the tablet, but it does not work.

Is the Afrihost sim locked on Afrihost only? Is there any way to unlock it, apart from getting a new prepaid sim?

I just want to clarify, is this for a sim card that we provided you with?

I'm not sure if our Mobile Data sims use the same system as the MTN Data Share system, I'll need to look into this for you. Could you PM me your account details please.
 
I've replied to your PM, but I'll post it here as well.

The MTN Data Share will only work on an Afrihost Voice sim card, the Afrihost Mobile Data sim cards function on a different system that isn't compatible with MTN Data Share unfortunatelly. :(

We don't recommend using Data Share with Afrihost Voice products however as allocated airtime may be used in some instances instead of the Shared Data.
 
Since I have afrihost account with mtn
How do I switch on between the two
For example If I have data on afrihost account and also mtn won't one be used while accessing the other ?

So if you have an MTN sim which you use with Afrihost (afrihost APN), then you need to switch APNs (MTN via internet APN)

The two are separate.. so eg I use to share my contract MTN data via data share to a sibling and use my Afrihost data via APN. In the rare cases I wanted to use MTN data (last day of the month with some data on MTN) I’d switch apns.
 
I still wish Afrihost had a dynamic data sharing capability ie where I buy data in a pool account and then set limit on users in pool vs velocity and max for month.

The data is controlled by the APN. So when you are on our APN, you only use our data. The nice thing is also that when you are our APN, your airtime won't be used as data if you reach your cap :)

OK but now the bills if my account is in arreas and i cant settle it imediatly what should i do?

You should be able to settle in ClientZone immedaitely with a credit card, or within a day or so by EFT. You usually have 15 days to settle if you haven't had a payment bounce before. So you can still use your data until you settle - unless the 15 days expire before you do so :)
 
What if I decide to cancel now will I lose my data ? Will I still be charged same due amount?

You generally can't cancel if there is a balance due. Usually, if you cancel you can use your data until the end of the month. If the data rolls over, you can still use it the following month.
