What an absolute joke that Multichoice, Nedbank and a few other companies take the option of selling shares to blacks only. What i find incredibly amusing is the white d___head on TV advertising this, as if he is proud of what Multichoice is doing, does he not realise that non-black people are the ones paying his friggin salary.
A while back i had a lengthy discussion with a white banker from Nedbank regarding empowerment policies in this country, while i agree with it in principle, I firmly disagree with how its being implemented. The banker from Nedbank was extremely proud what the bank has done for to promote empowerment, pity that a few months down the line he was jobless and his position become "empowered". I wonder how he feels about empowerment now.

Where is their evidence? wont a pencil stay in your hair? do they have a set of rules to go by? If they dont, well, thats their problem then :p

oh FFS get over this issue already. If you want to buy shares in Multichoice or Nedbank, you are welcome to do so. Stop whining. The share offer, which is funded by dividends over time and is limited in terms of the ability to transfer, is aimed at increasing the black proportion of ownership of the companies. It's not racist.

Damn self-righteous self loathing white liberals. They probably think that they aren't worthy and must pay for the sins of their forfathers. They are happy to shoot themselves and fellow whiteys in the foot. On the other hand maybe he is just a yuppie who will do whatever is the "in thing to do".

Hey I know, im gonna go in there, after not washing my hair for a few days, and ask them for the pencil test because I will say I am a black albino.

Anyway, have you vere seen those black albinos before.. freakin scary! They're obviously black.. but they are still totally white.. I guess its not just skin colour.

What prevents people from other races from buying? Seems a bit unfair to exclude others. Aren't there laws preventing discrimination, particulalrly regarding public companies?

*cough* bullsh!t *cough* It is almost impossible to fire anyone in this country, and, if you manage to make them redundant, you are prohibited from emloying anyone in their position for at least a year.... No offence, mac_mac, but you're talking sh!te.

Sjoe, I didn't know that!

I guess you must really know your stuff if you want to be the Human Resource Manager at any SA company now?

Of course it is racist. ("Blacks Only") Duh!

Of course everyone wants to buy these shares. They are underpriced for a start.

Very easy - make them redundant and create a position that's just a bit different and fill it with an AA candidate. Its happening all over.

Definition of Racism
“Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life.”

These shares are only available to people with black skin, how is it not racism?

now they just overdoing it.......how do hey expect non-whites to get anything done? its virtually impossible to get into medicine in durban except if you like top30 in provice material.......and your place is being taken by some ppl who will fail, then complain, then be passed because of their race, then you will have them operating on you.......without a doubt there are ppl who wil do well and deserve the chance.... ok im getting a bit off topic :p
