Shaving

wet shave every evening before my shower if I'm not too tired.
dry machine shave in the morning if I'm late and not done it the previous eve.

Wet shave before showering? Interesting - I find that the hot water from the shower makes shaving a much more enjoyable experience.
 
Electric shaver

So i thinks its time to invest in an electric shaver as razor blades are just so dam expensive.

There are just so many on the market eg wet and dry...

Id like to know what the pro's and con's are and which type is the best.

My personal oppinion? Ill stick with the straight blades...You get cheap ones embedded into a shaft ( 5 or 10 pack )...I usely shave after a shower...then the beard is soft, easier to shave and also the blades last longer.
 
Do it, seriously. I used to be 100% for razor blades, had no idea how much I was actually spending on Mach 3's, which if you have serious stubble is the least you can get. Then my wife got me an electric one and I haven't looked back.

One huge advantage is like this is a dry shaver so I can do it anytime, in the car, while brushing your teeth, while having your morning coffee, more than once a day, with no risk of cuts or rashes; it can also trim my sideburns and the back of my neck. I don't even have an expensive one, it's actually one of the cheaper models - a Philips two head one (something like r400), but I haven't looked back. Give it 6 months to a year and you've already saved money on blades.

Anyhow - Braun is pretty good as far as electric ones go. One negative is that I've never had such bad rashes as when I used an electric.

Yup.

I pay R20 for 5 - last at least one month each.
So, R50 a year or so is a bargain.

Also shave after a shower - beard is soft, blades last longer, no rash etc.

yeah thats all good and dandy but DO the electric shavers give you a close of a shave as the Mach 3's, for instance do? :confused:
 
I have a Philips wet/dry shaver.

It's TOTALLY waterproof, so you can use it in the shower, in the car, wherever.

I actually tested the waterproof claim by running it completely submerged in the bath. :D
 
I've switched over to a Philishave (basic one with the three heads) about two years ago, and it still is going strong.

Saved a packet on shaving blades during that period.

Would like to buy a razor and shave wet for special occasions tho... razor blades are just too expensive.

@ Bwana - what brand of razor are you using that are R20 for 5 blades? :confused:

The newer electric razors also give you a good shave.

ATM its SuperMax blades but more often than not its those Gillette Minora (sp) ones.

EDIT - my bad - the expensive ones are 5 for r12. :o

I have a Philishave with the 3 round things. I am really dissapointed with it, never as close as blades. I only use it when Im in a hurry (in the car already:)) and I find it takes soo much longer than with blades.
 
I also use a phillishave. I only use electric shavers. I just don't like the feel of the normal shavers.

I have/had one of those too - whenever the charge was just a little low it plucked the hairs out rather than cut them. Reminded me of the time back in collage I was dared to shave with an Epilady. :eek:
 
I've got a Philips wet-dry shaver. Use in the shower. I get a closer shave than with blades. Trick is not to press hard! I also like as it does not chaff like blades.
I do keep a cheap blade to do touch ups as the Philishave can't reach some areas.
